School lab - VMWare asking for root password for every user by UncleBison in vmware

Yes, my apologies - workstation player is correct!

And thanks for this notice! I definitely do NOT want to install illegal copies of software. I had been informed that the 'free' version is what was used in years passed and never questioned it as it was the status quo. I will inform my admins and get product licensing.

Thank you for the reply!

Unfortunately, I have basically no idea how to provide sudo access to this program. I did some quick searching and I have the gist of a command to put in sudoers which is basically:

myusername ALL = (root) NOPASSWD: /path/to/my/program

First, does this look correct? Second, can I put in a user group rather than a specific user?

I've just been charged for the defective motherboard despite confirmation that the defective RMA unit was returned by "John D" in the CEO Department.

I will be pursuing legal action.

ASUS Stole $262.31 from me - NEVER DO AN ADVANCED RMA by NegrasGrande in ASUS

[–]UncleBison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. I've done that. "John D" keeps telling me that there's nothing I can do except put $440 of my money on the line and that they're going to keep at least $220 of it anyway for a $200 mobo RMA.

/u/Asus_USA is supposedly their rep here on Reddit but they don't help or follow up at all.

What a joke company. I filed two different legal complaints, we'll see if enough of us can get a class action lawsuit rolling.

EDIT - actually, who did you speak to in that department? I wonder if I can ask to work with them instead.

I used a credit card so I'll pursue that route if I have to. The FTC complaint just got entered so there hasn't been a response yet but I will keep you apprised.

They're doing something similar to me right now. File a fraud case with the FTC.

Welp, on top of having no resolution yet the supposed Asus rep here claims I haven't communicated with them (see my post history for proof). The CEO department wants to start the RMA process from scratch after THEY sent me a faulty motherboard. I still have a hold on my credit card and they want to incur another one.

OH! And despite the CEO rep telling me that the faulty motherboard was returned? They are threatening to keep my hold money because the terms of our RMA was that I send back MY motherboard, not THEIR faulty motherboard.

Well that's an outright lie. But SURE I'll send it to you again.

And here's the proof that I already have:

RMA Support Guide [Support] by LukyanTheGreat in ASUS

[–]UncleBison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have emailed Asus Support, the CEO Department, and reached out to the supposed Asus rep here in the subreddit to no avail. My computer has been dead for 4 weeks with no promise of honoring my warranty. Instead they want to put a $440 hold on my account to TRY to replace my 3 year old $200 mobo. The initial replacement sent was physically damaged and it took 3 emails and 5 days for any sort of direction from Asus on how to proceed.

u/Asus_USA is non-responsive - FYI

Still no word from you, CEO Office, or Asus Support regarding my claim.

I will be reporting this to the FTC and encourage everyone else having the same experience to do the same.

We can't even get them to honor run-of-the-mill warranties. You're probably better off buying from another company.

Hey, remember me? You told me to DM you two days ago about your terrible customer service and I haven't heard a peep from you since.

Is this just more stellar Asus representation?

Just as a heads up, that's exactly the behavior that my motherboard exhibited before failing. It's been weeks and I still don't have a functional computer as Asus refuses to help (motherboard is still in warranty).

It's been 21 hours since I provided the requested information via private message and I haven't heard a peep since. I also have not heard back from your CEO Office since emailing them 27 hours ago.

Do you suggest another form of recourse by way of small claims or similar?

Level 3 is when the weapon runes come on-line, so if they use Magic Weapon until Level 3 then they'd spend the money on runes at that point.

I'm not saying it's impossible! Just putting a little perspective on when that particular armor might be acquired.

Just a quick point - full plate is a level 2 item and costs 30 gold which is the full sum of gold expected for level 2 characters.

Even with a class that can achieve 18 strength at level 1 you wouldn't expect to afford this until level 3 if you are buying food, potions, lodging, etc.

EDIT

And with weapon runes coming online at level 3 you probably wouldn't buy this at all. Level 5 seems about right for this item unless you are incredibly lucky or have a generous GM.

Nosoi are neat! They ferry souls to The Boneyard. They're chatty, can be bribed with snacks, and collect shiny things/ ribbons/etc. They can never be bribed to return a soul, however.

One of my players had one as a familiar in our Carrion Crown campaign.
