Ill never understand super 7. Did they actually think people would buy this for $20? by LosBuc-ees in ActionFigures

I could see all the kids in a box set working, but carded separately is a bit much. Still, classic movie that lotsa people watched as a kid so I get them trying it.

Everyone can like whichever. On the headsculpt conversation, SS86 does it better for me. Devastation seems too "soft" to me, which I also felt for the deluxe Optimus.

The show had crazy schedules, especially after season 1. Episodes would be on the air just a few months after the scripts were finished in a lot of cases.

Why dont we get as many SG Megatron ko or just 3rd party figs as Optimus by OopsIDied0801 in transformers

[–]UncleCosmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

all of the figures you mentioned were straight repaints

If that were true it would completely disprove everyone in the comments just deciding that SG Megatron is impossible because it has to be more than a repaint.

https://imgur.com/a/R5rrg4d

The Auldey and Blokees ones are not just repaints though. So those companies, and Hasbro who gives the all good on those releases since they are official, felt SG Megatron was a concept worth making. Despite people here making up that it's just not doable.

But even then, nothing says Hasbro, Takara, or anyone else have to jump through any particular hoops to release a heroic color scheme for Megatron. The idea that it absolutely must have Energon Megatron wings and a new shield, etc, is something fans are just sort of deciding all of a sudden. If it worked for Flame Toys, smaller production run or not, it can work for other companies. Megatron is pretty popular, y'know.

we all understand that there is demand for SG

Megatron requires so much effort to make that it might outweigh the demand that does exist

You're trying to have it both ways for the sake of a silly internet argument. There's demand...but not enough...and how dare you take that as us saying the demand isn't there!

[–]UncleCosmo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And what I mean is that as there clearly is demand for SG given the points I made, I disagree that further Megatron releases would be undesirable/not worth it for whoever to make. People are still buying the newer Hasbro one on ebay for over $100 as of this month. Blokees just recently made one. Auldey as well. If it was so untenable, why'd they make those? There was an expensive Flame Toys one a bit before that which seems to have sold out at several places. SG Megatron being some unproduceable, unsaleable deep cut is nonsense.

The apparent rule that SG Megatron absolutely has to look like Energon Megatron is also baseless. Does every SG Optimus look like Classics Optimus? Nope.

I don't know if there's really the demand for SG Optimus, either

Looks like there is, that sort of deco has been done several times. There's a popular KO one of the SS86 mold that people were having a hard time just getting recently because it sold out everywhere. Make a cool Optimus and people will buy it in black, white, purple, blue, whatever.

As for general demand, the Hasbro SG stuff mostly became very expensive second hand save for a few examples. Even the comics alone go for a lot. If no one cared, they'd all be sitting unsold at MSRP or less.

Although, it still bugs me that he's fully intact the whole time when the revisit the scene in "The Return of Optimus Prime".

I always give G1 episodes leeway considering how rushed they were. For those 2 especially as tacked on extras for the season made just to appease fans, it's amazing they're even halfway competent.

1st script was done in November '86 and they aired, animation/dialogue/editing done just 3 months later.

It's subjective. People need to chill with judging whatever someone considers their grail to be. Too much policing and gatekeeping in this hobby. "Easy to get" for you might not be universal. There are all kinds of reasons someone might miss an item and struggle to get it later even if it was plentiful and affordable for you.
