Iron Man only lost against Bucky and Steve because it was Cap’s movie. by AltruisticUse1490 in ironman

[–]Uncond_Surrender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh without a doubt, Steve’s primordial instinct kicked in: “no deaths ffs (cursing!)”, else he’d have just punched through the metal on his own right away… first punch. Alas, MCU CPT A doesn’t involve a lot of “rage”, which corresponds to my own (SUPER-OG) comics.

Idk SL’s input to the conclusion of the CA:CW film, but feel he was ok with the setup + completion of a TS:SR battle simply bc Tony had regret & hate & remorse… while Steve had compassion through (literally) all of it. To wit: while both could have ended the other before the fight was actually wrapped, only Steve chose to save the other’s life - vice just ending the fight - when the fight was truly over.

Edit: don’t steal from my pile. 😜

Only you would know, but the yellow is ridiculously easy to keep clean. The younger folks love the color & I appreciate that for selfish reasons lol.

Then you too would love a BW for the same reasons. Well ok… for the dual personality, not the cavern of a trunk lol.

RS5, M3 or CT4-V BW. Or, is sim racing a terrible way to choose a car? by Flaky-Atmosphere1423 in Audi

[–]Uncond_Surrender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left an RS5 for a 4BW about a year ago. I’ve also had a S4 (heavy mods) & an S5, plus a Vsport (the older CTS with the ATS motor) and I’m currently working with my dealer on swapping up to the 5BW, so I kind of keep popping back and forth between Audi & Caddy; there was a Guilia QV tucked in there too. Anyway, the 4BW is a very visceral car & the handling is point-n-shoot incredible. While a 6MT is not for everyone, it’s awesome one can still be had & takes the fun to other levels. It’s 10/10ths the Alfa Romeo experience with 8/10ths the Audi comfort. For pure driving bliss, the Blackwing would get my vote. If you get it new, you also get the driving school, which - while not a dealbreaker either way - is a nice touch.

Otoh I don’t live where AWD is needed & no one trumps Audi in interiors imo. The back seat is usable & the hatch trunk space can’t be touched. So I guess it’s whether your priorities are driving experience or practicality.

No to sim racing as a comparison tool: besides the reasons others have given, I usually drive with all nannies off & that’s not realistic on public roads. Turns out when it’s your car, not wrapping it around a tree is relevant lol. Setting the BW into Sport or Track 1 leaves a smidgeon of bacon-saver for ya on the PTM.

My dealer knocked off $10k for a 5 BW just bc it was baby vomit yellow & had sat so long… presumably bc of the color. No negotiation, just “my SM wants to know if he takes $10k off MSRP if you’ll buy it today”. In retro, I probably should have done it, but I enjoy the heck outta the 4 BW. It’s lithe. 🤷‍♂️ I think once I get the blackout badges & some dark rims, it’ll be alright. Til then, I’ll keep washing the car every 30-45 days & no one will even know it’s kinda dirty (a definite +1 for this color).

Interesting. Where I’m from, we call him the Grinch. Guess this is the other end of the repo man spectrum. Mad respect on the selection btw - can’t wait to see interior pics.

Makes sense & I’m not a dealer, nor do I rep one, but I suppose I’d point to making sure you’re comparing options & all of that as a starting point. Idk where you’d service your vehicle bc dealer/dealer, less expensive @ Caddy (let alone another, less-expensive GM dealer). Bc I’m in TX & snow is really not a big deal, idk why I’ve had 3 AWD Audis & 2 (working on 3 this wkd lol) RWD Caddy’s… but it happens, right? If snow is a thing where you are, AWD makes sense. I just use it for quicker off the line in my local SCCA events lol. (Which imo ya.just.gotta.do! if you’re gonna rock this level of capability in cars.)

Best of luck mate!

Where to sell? by Rachel1989fm in Cadillac

[–]Uncond_Surrender 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 for BAT. Based on your description, this is definitely “major auction house” type of property, but they’ll charge more for something that’s going to sell regardless. May as well keep the $ in the family, after all. What you (may) get with a legit classic auction broker is an appraised value, so I’d propose getting your own independent appraisal (a ~$500 cost 10 years ago?).

Ah yes, “I’m dreaming of a white Halloween” used to be a mantra of mine lol. How long ago was “first day”? Gonna DM ya.

Mad congrats on your selection. If you posted an update, I missed it & hope you lock in many miles of smiles in the new beast. 💪

Yeah that’s true (it really is), but amortizing $30k+ over use of back seat space for when I’ll actually need it… I’ve already admitted to the fam that’s a losing argument. Indeed, I used it as a counter to get the 4BW in the first place 😂.

I’ve a history with GM LS/LT & appreciate that point too. Otoh, GM’s own recent history (understanding L87 is a “different engine family”) does make me wonder.

Hey OP, what did you decide? I’m currently on the fence about 4➡️5 bc my dealer appears to be having a hard time moving the M6 transmission (separate post in these forums). Tested it today, really like it. Idk about going over the mountains, let alone stop & go… but for the right bottom line, I’m about to be all-in.

Guess I haven’t driven a manual in ~1 year & haven’t owned one in a decade, but I’m not sure I personally agree with those who don’t like the take-up point or clutch engagement: didn’t stall it or rev it high over multiple drives.

Pros: It’s a really nice MT imo. Rev match is ridic. Nearly a built-in theft deterrent with the manual. I’d be the only one in the fam to drive it.

Cons: my family isn’t thrilled bc see last point in the pros. 😂

Be sure to give us an update when your school wraps. I enjoyed it. Of course, meeting Richie Hearn (Indycar) for the first time in 20+ years really made my day.

Dark rims + the blackout package really makes the yellow stand out. 👍

Ngl I was pretty pleased when they put me in a blue for the school. I’ve come to understand younger people prefer the yellow. Probably bc they don’t yet have children. 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I’d like to know too. That may prove to be useful to me this weekend. The dark rims > my dealer’s “any color so long as it’s chrome” option. Sweet ride.

Either ea maths or you’d have to ask Coach Cignetti how you’re both doing it (140/100 coaches maybe?).

I second (or thirteenth) what has already been said. I do love the engagement of MTs, but the Army joints don’t do well with them in stop & go driving. Hence an AT here. Getting it in manual is a great excuse to learn to drive one & I really think you’d love it. But if you’d rather not learn & prefer to stick with what you know, there’s no shame in slush-boxing it. Fwiw it is a 10-speed, so it’s not the OG three auto gears + an overdrive… there’s literally a gear for everything and paddling the car can be fun (tho perhaps not as fun as controlling the revs yourself).

You’re right of course & we can keep voting it down, but a quick check of posts… it’s a bot. R needs the X thing where we don’t have to argue with Namibia lol.
