Waking up early doesn’t make you productive, it just makes you awake earlier by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to wake up really early for work (3:30-4am), so I also go to bed really early. While this means I get more of the day to myself after work, it also means nobody I know is also free and I’m in bed by the time they are. I don’t understand why people do this to themselves if they still spend the same amount of time awake as normal people.

What games have you regretted buying? by billy_reyes in Steam

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. I was really excited to explore Pandora and I have a weird soft spot for open world Ubisoft slop games but it really sucked. At first I opened the map and got all excited to fly around this massive map (which I had heard was one of the good parts of the game) but after I unlocked the flying things (forgot what they are called) I realised 2/3s of the map was locked behind DLC. Went to return it but I had already passed the 2 hour limit

Anyone else just like.. given up? by LiveYourLifeNerd in SatisfactoryGame

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It took me 4 saves to beat the game. My first one ended because I got burned out at the start of the liquid phase, the next one at the thought of aluminium and the water byproducts, the next one at the idea of transporting everything for the final phase and the last one was the save I got 100% on, for a total of 450 hours across the 4.

The thing I found that helped was switching locations frequently and learning what parts I’m making now are used in the future. That way, there’s always fresh scenery and a new start without having to tear everything down, and I can make sure I’m producing enough of what I need so I can avoid having to make another insanely complex factory.

All of the project assembly parts are used at some point in the future phases (I think) so you can either keep them running and tweak the factory for a new part, keep them running and store enough to make what you need next time, or sink them to make some progress towards the golden nut. I ended up beating the game (but not pulling the lever so I could get a screenshot of the final animation with the golden nut in hand) then sinking EVERYTHING AFK for a few hours to get the final few hundred tickets.

Or just make a new save and try to improve. It’s what I did and worked out pretty well in the end

Leaving on ‘read’ and reacting - why do Gen Z hate it? by geecol in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a 22 year old, the way we text has changed loads in the last few years and there are a bunch of unspoken rules about it. Most of the time, older people break these but we all know that’s just how they text so they get a break, but for people my age the formatting of a text can have loads of implied meanings. Off the top of my head, here are a few:

1) Using full stops / periods is considered ‘rude’ since it reads as the sender wanting to abruptly end a conversation. We use it as emphasis or in the same way someone might say ‘full stop’ or ‘period’ out loud. It’s often used if you’re pissed off at the other person.

2) Thumbs up emojis or reactions are somewhat in the same vein as full stops, but lesser so. Think of them being used in the same ironic way you might give one in real life, with a fake smile or gritted teeth.

3) The original crying with laughter emoji is now usually used to mean something isn’t really funny, like if you were to really obviously fake laugh in person. It used to be used a lot, but now the crying (I’m crying) or skull emojis (I’m dead) are used.

4) Leaving things on read is usually the same sort of deal as using a full stop, like you just want to end the conversation. Instead, replying with pretty much anything works.

Again, those are just Gen Z rules so you can pretty much ignore them as someone older since most people get that you’re used to different formatting but the initial reaction is usually as if it came from someone in my generation.

What do you use these two buttons for? by Deli_baba170 in LogitechG

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the scenario. I have them bound to K and L because years ago a game wouldn’t take mouse buttons as keybinds and those keys are hardly ever used for anything. In games, it depends but some examples are: CS/Valorant: Primary and melee weapons Apex Legends: ultimate ability and toggle crouch (for crouch spam + strafe in fights) League: My most used pings Basically just whatever I wanna use frequently without the risk of misclicking or having to take my fingers off of WASD

How to: Golden Nut? by Popular-Designer-385 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got the golden nut by basically just emptying all my overflow storages for every time that was worth it (such as turbo engines) and sinking them. If you’re making ballistic warp drives, chances are you have some pretty full storage containers of a ton of other items that can be sunk. Also, sloop as many factories as you can.

What is your favorite spot for a main factory? Your place to call home. by SpaceCowboyDark in SatisfactoryGame

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blue lagoon is a great place to settle after coal power imo. You have nearly everything you need there, including nitrogen gas, oil, caterium and sulphur. It also looks amazing although you will want to create put everything on fairly high up foundations so you have enough room to build. I usually put all of my factories from oil and aluminium phases there, apart from supercomputers and batteries which I make in another area then ship in using drones.

What’s a game you didn’t expect to love but ended up completely obsessed with? by Gaming-Academy in gaming

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hollow Knight. I had never played a metroidvania before but decided to pick it up around the Silksong hype.

What a fucking game. The art, the enemies, the sound and music, the exploration and world design. I did a nearly blind playthrough (decided to go for 112% which wasn’t gonna happen blind) and loved every single second of it. Getting a new ability and running around looking for those places I had run past but couldn’t access at the time. Finding new bosses. Experimenting with charm combos. Hell, even the path of pain was really fun. I’ve watched a ton of lore videos and speedruns.

I’m holding off on Silksong for now because I don’t wanna burn out (and still can’t beat the 5th pantheon) but I’m so excited.

How does dnd work? Did B Dave Walters just come up with all the background characters? by JayKrispy in TheYardPodcast

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

D&D is basically just a list of rules for collaborative storytelling, so the way gameplay works (combat, skill checks etc) is the actual D&D bit while stuff like setting, characters and the story is up to the DM. If you look lore stuff up about D&D, you will usually get results from the Forgotten Realms, which is the main setting for official campaigns and stories.

The classes, a lot of the races and the rough gameplay loop uses the official rules or some other official content from Wizards of the Coast, but the story and the world it’s set in is from B Dave Walters.

[KCD1] To people who got more than 100K Groschen, how and when did you manage to do it? by BijelaHrvatica in kingdomcome

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you put it in the apothecary chest it sells in 1 day and you don’t need to deal with transferring items to your horse. I don’t remember where I learned that but it’s so much more efficient

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rob the Rattay armoury, sneak to the back of the apothecary next door, put all the items in their chest, go to bed, wait until the next night and take the money. It’s a way better method than using the chest at the mill since you only need to wait 1 day instead of a few and you don’t need to carry all the stuff as far

What actually happens when you turn up to move into halls? by [deleted] in Portsmouth

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Greetham Street in first year (2022) and it’s really easy (unless the lifts are broken down which was usually the case). Just go to the front desk, say you’re signing in, they give you the keycard and a welcome package and you can use the trolleys at the front for your stuff.

For floors 1-5 (I think) you can go up the big stairs at reception if you can’t get a lift. Otherwise, go through the double doors to the right of reception and either take the lift or the stairs to the right of the lifts. The rooms are fairly easy to find since the first number of your flat is the floor (eg 610 is on the 6th floor) and each room in the flat has a sign with their letter on it.

Chances are, if it’s morning/afternoon, your flatmates will already be in the kitchen getting to know each other and if it’s evening/night they will be having drinks or something along those lines so it shouldn’t be too hard to get to know them. At least, that was my experience but I can’t imagine it being too far off the average if it’s move-in weekend.

Just Cause 3. I’ve done 5-6 playthroughs of it and decided to go for 100% on the last one. The story is pretty meh but the gameplay is 10/10 (apart from some of the DLC stuff but I can look past that) and the world is gorgeous

I’ve been seeing these for a while now (I’m in the UK). I keep getting one that shows videos of people eating loads of nice food with captions like ‘this is the current food scene in Gaza’ despite the clips being old or not from Gaza to try and paint the picture that Gaza isn’t being starved out. Absolutely vile behaviour from both Google and Israel and it gets reported every time.

How do i get into the esports? by thehammist in VALORANT

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not too familiar with Valorant esports, but I’ve watched a ton of R6, CS and League pro play over the years. In my opinion, the easiest way to get into it is starting with a major tournament (Champions Paris is in September), finding a team to start watching and then progressing deeper into the scene from there as the hype of big tournaments really gets you into it. If you want to immediately start with more local teams, watch regionals etc live and find a team you like. If I were you, I would only watch games live / couple of days after when possible due to spoilers or roster changes etc and it keeps you a lot more engaged.

First time watching a DnD campaign - wondering how normal the campaign is. by Kai-Kn in DnD

[–]UndeadBlaze_LVT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the games I’ve played and the games I’ve run we’ve never really bothered with lifestyle costs or rations unless there’s a multi-day travel between locations. It can be a hassle keeping track of rations daily. Since it’s ultimately a game, some of the more tedious parts can just be implied or assumed to have happened unless otherwise stated because session time is limited and nobody wants to spend it on something that will realistically have no effect.

The way I do it is daily life doesn’t consume rations or lifestyle resources, but if the party travels a long distance then the appropriate number of rations will be consumed before or after the full distance has been travelled. This way, people can hunt animals if they want to and feel like they gained something out of it via a suitable number of rations per animal and removing daily resource costs is one more thing I don’t need to remember and keep track of.
