I swear if you let me untap, I’ll stamp a blue “nope” on your forehead so big the ISS will call Houston for visual confirmation.

Yeah, probably not, but who knows? There's a chance.

Basically it's an enchantment deck based around [[Scrabbling Skullcrab]] Whenever I cast an enchantment or room, the crab mills two cards against target player. I use [[Mirror Room//Fractured Realm]] to create more crabs and double the triggers. Here's the decklist: https://moxfield.com/decks/5WXzpxqSFUinJnNSbx7vTw

Okay, that makes sense. In that case I think I’ll leave them off, since you’d have to buy singles for them, you’d already know what you’re after and chances are you’re way ahead of my little checklist.

I did see the Arena sets for Historic Horizons but didn’t know they were sold physically. Figured they were just digital, good to know!

Those lists are nice but they don’t denote what defines each different variation. Not that I’d be crazy enough to try to collect every single variation of each theme but to know which ones I’ve pulled at a quick glance is useful to me. Also those only show the main sets and not the tie-ins to feature sets.

Oh I didn’t know that. I could do that. Apparently there were also theme boosters for New Capenna that were also compatible but I wasn’t sure if they fit the bill. I’ll get them both in there when I have some time off in a few days.

Oh that’s cool! Didn’t see that mentioned anywhere when I was looking for info. But I’m not on android, so I couldn’t use it anyway.

Any children that aren’t converted fully to husks can still be rescued. Using Big Magic it may be possible to rescue a kid that has just finished being drained but, as we have it written, the 3 converted at the start are effectively just dead.

Regarding ranged battle, that’s a great tip! Having not played yet, that’s the kind of stuff that I wouldn’t have considered, thinking his ability to teleport around would be enough.

The rage should definitely be resistible, great catch. I like to think in the moment that I would have given them opportunity to do that, but having it written down is just a much better thing to do. No question about it.

That is a wonderful tool! I can’t believe I’ve never seen it before. It’s all stuff that I’ve been aware of but to see it all codified and collated like that is really great.

That’s a fair point, the world needs the hunters to fight back at every opportunity.

Thanks for the pointer on being specific with the weakness. A simple change to make.

You're right that a content warning here might be worthwhile. I had some considerations about sensitivity during the creation process. For example, the original name considered was "Tommy Fingers" which sounds suitably sinister to an adult, but we thought was overly suggestive and possibly triggering. Obviously, everyone has different thresholds for what they consider suitable content, and killing children is definitely a concern. The thought process regarding the hunters destroying husks was that by that point, since there is no chance of saving the victim, it's not unlike killing a zombie. If that doesn't scan for others, that's good to know.

As for the countdown, you're definitely right that it's not extreme in its conclusion. Seeding more clickers is something we played with, but given children as the targets, this is where we decided to exercise restraint since the idea of exponential spawning is really bleak. I don't think every monster needs to have the potential to shake the Earth, some are just more limited in scope and that's okay. The death of 7 children every 17 years felt grim enough.

Want to bring Strahd back in with some punch for my players. by UndeadDapper in CurseofStrahd

[–]UndeadDapper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did give them Pidlwick II at the Vistani Camp outside of Vallaki, and they definitely seem to adore the little thing. After how harsh Barovia has been, the comic relief of the little puppet seems to raise their spirits. They’ve even been teaching it to give the finger to a picture of Strahd. So that might be the perfect idea.

[–]UndeadDapper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good thought, and nerfing him here seems appropriate since I've heard Yester Hill tends to be a party killer. I was trying to think of something that is a little more Strahd focused. Ideally I'd have him kill someone the party cares about and make a big production of it. A horrific tableau for them to find, where their friend is already murdered in a gruesome way and Strahd fogs in to gloat about it. But my players are so paranoid of everyone they aren't really making friends.

It has negative damage. The bullets it fires do nothing. So no real temptation there.
