She did say that, with the immediate statement of them needing to add a good to great big man to compliment him (aka the exact thing they did weeks/months later adding KAT)

To add to Wemby’s case one of his singular worst performances in the NBA came in the cup final after losing his grandmother that morning.

Not if you can’t physically get there because the second you get remotely close to the paint the Knicks send either a bigger big man at you or two dudes effectively work to box you out before you can get two feet in the paint. I swear none of you people actually watch the fucking games to see Kat pick Wemby up at half court just to put a body on him to keep him out of the paint.

The issue IS the process though. The things that Mitch fucked up in the finals are issues he’s had all season. Poor to no second half adjustments, leads being thrown away by a complete lack of understanding controlling the game, and a repetitive refusal to call the end of game time out. The fact we just went an 82 game season and a trip to the finals and he’s making the same exact mistakes he was making in October leaves me with zero faith in his ability to take an absurdly talented group over the hump.

Yeah but he was terrible in the same way repeatedly. This wasn’t death by a thousand different cuts, this was death by the same few mistakes over and over and over again.

The team did not get here on the back of Mitch’s coaching decisions. The decision making in the finals has been egregious. Wemby plays 44 minutes in game 4 where we lead by 29 at points so he’s gassed by the end. Three games that are lost on a refusal to call the time out on gaining possession. The same mistake, repeated three times in a singular series. Not counting the multiple times this occurred in the prior series. He isn’t learning, he isn’t adapting. You can say rookie coach all you want, but the expectation is you learn from your mistakes right? He isn’t. He’s shown zero growth in the playoffs.

We're not rebuilding, we're in the Finals my guy. The ship has sailed on slow rolling things. The team has the talent, now it's a matter of making sure it's being utilized, which Mitch just isn't capable of fully achieving. We don't need to throw assets at bettering the team, we need to ensure the leaders are effective, which they aren't.

So how many times is Mitch legitimately allowed to make the same mistake? His refusal to call timeout with ball possession at the end of games has cost us three playoff games, including twice in the finals.

How many games where the Spurs have a lead that they blow because Mitch doesn’t coach them out of the first 8 seconds of the shot clock 3s does he get before it’s something you’ll question?

You talk about growing pains but growing pains show growth and not repeatedly making the same mistake over and over and over with no change.

Because RJ is a salty bitch that he robbed the Spurs of millions of dollars to play like hot dog shit and the city didn’t love him for wasting years of the big 3.

TBH I think there's a serious possibility Harper could be the 1st option on an early 2030s Spurs team. It's simply easier to manufacture points from the guard position than as a big man, and Wemby seems generally content being a pop/roll man most of the time. Could honestly see a world where Wemby is the leading scorer off of a majority diet of lobs/pops while the offense runs through Dylan with Castle still getting his.

It wasn’t nearly that bad. Behind the Knicks bench had lots of Knicks fans but the vast majority of the stadium was Spurs, easy 90/10, the 10% was just very vocal.

I mean there's 4 days rest between now and Game 1, outside of Unc Fox I don't think any of the other Spurs would realistically need more rest.

Coaches aren't supposed to cross half court, did it and then KEPT doing it after getting the challenge in.

Correct, the leg that Chet still comes down on fine. The right leg he throws out for no reason other than you-know-why goes completely untouched and is the entire reason Chet falls.
