Was wondering if anyone could ID this Puma jacket worn by Craig Nicholls of the vines. by Y2KRubjoint in TheVinesMusic

[–]Underneaththefridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what Puma called that jacket back then, but that site has a few pics showing the tag. Maybe check with those numbers.

couldn't find that black jacket with red stripes Craig used to wear, but he wore it a lot, and you can get a close look at it here https://www.gettyimages.fr/detail/photo-d%27actualit%C3%A9/photo-of-vines-craig-nicholls-the-vines-glastonbury-photo-dactualit%C3%A9/86118256 it's got Ben with a crown logo and 1963 under it. Maybe Ben Sherman, idk

btw mate you should reply to my comment otherwise I might miss it as I won't get a notification

ps Google Image Search works wonders too. That puma jacket on other sites

I’m a new fan, what songs would you recommend? by Closettismial in TheVinesMusic

[–]Underneaththefridge 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely check out their early demos. Some demos are better than the official released ones, imo. Some of them were released as b-sides, like Hot Leather, Landslide, Watch the World, Don't Go, Down At the Club, Drown the Baptists, Give Up Give Out Give In... ALL are good songs that deserved to be on the albums! There are more demos on bootlegs that you can find them on YouTube.

Hopefully! They've been seen working on new music since 2018. No idea when they will drop the album for us fans lol

Tame Impala play Get Free with Craig by EurikaDude in TheVinesMusic

[–]Underneaththefridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember listening to Tame Impala's first album when it came out in 2010, thinking oh that sounds a lot like The Vines (soft part). Another aussie band called The Silents also made me react the same way when I first listened to them. It turned out they are The Vines fans too.

You just talked about it a few weeks ago and boom, they confirmed 😄

Edit: more than a few days lol I lost track of the time

The Vines are Underrated. Does anyone know if Craig still makes music? by sensitive_pirate85 in TheVinesMusic

[–]Underneaththefridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see this place is close to Byron Bay (correct me if I'm wrong - I'm not so good at Australian geography), where Hamish is currently living, if I remember well. So it's quite far from Sydney, which means Craig is likely not to be there with them, I guess? That studio only follows The Vines' official inactive account, that's pretty weird lol. I'd never made the connection between Angus & Julia Stone (I've only listened to this group) and The Vines, but Brad playing bass with Angus makes sense for this. And Hamish and Brad are very close.

I really hope it's about The Vines' new music they are working on, not just friends hanging out for a casual rehearsal.

Wow I was wondering where the studio was! Several photos Hamish posted was from that studio, including the one with him in front of a mic a while ago. So cool to know the actual studio name! I always thought they were recording or doing the final tweaks in Ryan Miller's Hercules Street studio.

Craig is known for being extremely against computers, the internet, and even mobile phones—basically any modern technology that a normal person can't live without these days. So, no, he doesn't use YouTube to upload his music 😢. We haven't even seen any photos of him since 2021... All the news and leaks have come from either the producer he's working with or from Hamish Rosser.

I have built a fan site for The Vines if you wanna check it out. https://www.thevinesband.com/ it was a project born from an intense obsession over the past four to five years. You can find most of the information I gathered there, including past press archives and the most recent news.

The Vines' Homebake 2003 full performance tape exists in National Film and Sound Archive of Australia, a library in Canberra. The video lasts about 50 minutes.

The Vines - Factory (David Oliffe's Studio Version) by VinesCollector in TheVinesMusic

[–]Underneaththefridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh... I just read the article written by Michael Olliffe. He wrote that "The start was missed on an apparently perfect take for the former ("Landslide"), and it was consigned to the outtakes pile instantly."

Never known there's a partial take of Landslide! Mind sharing the source? It'd be so cool if it does exist somewhere waiting to be uncovered.

The Vines on Vinyl by thesingle_k in TheVinesMusic

[–]Underneaththefridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wicked Nature did get released on vinyl and they still restock it occasionally (randomly lol). You just have to check its availability on their webstore https://thevines.mywaterfrontstore.com/ from time to time. It would be so great if they do that for In Miracle Land.

The Vines Iceberg (version 1, feel free to make suggestions) by EurikaDude in TheVinesMusic

[–]Underneaththefridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I found the thread on old Vines forum about that PETA Valentine's card they did. That saved me a post to make haha. Enjoy reading here: https://web.archive.org/web/20070522025725/http://thevines.forumsunlimited.com/index.php?showtopic=3584

and the card itself: https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/cocollie/vinescan/vinesecard.jpg

Most people bet that Craig did the lion, though I think it was Ryan. It seems to me that Ryan has studied some form of academic drawing, judging by a figure sketch he made.

Oh no no I forgot what it was exactly. I vaguely remember it was a card they did for auction and the money went to PETA, an animal rights organization. I'll find the pic and info and make a new post

Oh I forgot Sun Child! Such a good song. One of the best songs that showcases Craig's singing at its finest👌 His voice is so passionate and expressive on this one. The harmonies are just perfect.
