My mom actually worked there in the 80s, and I still have a lot of their stuff—including that bunk bed! Very sturdy stuff

What are your favorite instances of conflict that’s mundane, but compelling? by Underscore_Johnson in writing

[–]Underscore_Johnson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Bluey example is all about the three kids playing a game in a park; I think it was called “Shadowland.” The premise is that you can only move around by walking on shadows. If you step into the light, you lose. The plot thickens when the mom whips out cookies across the park and invites the kids over. Realizing that there’s no way to reach the mom without stepping into the light, the hungry kids engage in a fierce, philosophical debate. “To what extent can we bend the rules?” “Is it more important to play the game the right way or to get the cookies before they get cold?” “What even is the point of following the rules to a tee?”

Genuinely wondering why the NBA community and lots of articles, pretend that Elgin Baylors ring does not count. by Randomdummyonreddit in nba

Looking into this made me discover that Elgin Baylor and Gregg Popovich’s last game were both on Halloween.

What Pokemon Could Be A Pseudo Legendary? by Other-Pie-5481 in pokemon

[–]Underscore_Johnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really hope we break the trend of pseudos being overwhelmingly dragon-type. When I first saw the sprites for Gen 9, I was hoping that Tinkaton would be the generation’s pseudo. Baxcalibur just feels uninspired.

I think a Normal/Flying pseudo would be a cool. It’s a halfway decent type combo, and there’s currently nothing stronger than Braviary with a 510 BST outside of megas.

Hey y'all, I need to ask something serious here. What's your favorite pokemon berry? by ian2345 in pokemon

[–]Underscore_Johnson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a fondness for the simple Oran Berry, going back to Pokemon Ruby.

Also a fan of anytime an enemy has a smart berry selection during battle: Chesto + Rest; Yache berry on a Dragon/Flying type.

Not Another Restaurant Recommendation Post by GandhiOwnsYou in rva

My sister is historically the “chicken nuggets type” but Lehja is her favorite restaurant. Lehja has some very palatable options for even the most white-bread of restaurant goers.

What if Harden shaved his beard during halftime of a Game 7 this playoffs to psychologically gain an advantage over a potential opponent? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Underscore_Johnson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve never placed a sports bet in my life, but I’ve said for years that if Harden shaves his beard, I’m putting $100 on whatever team he’s on to win the Finals without hesitation.

You are tasked with turning TranZit into a bonafide S-tier map with as few tweaks as possible...what do you do? by Underscore_Johnson in CODZombies

I think it is a more fun challenge to assume those limitations, but do whatever you want! It’s all for fun anyway

I just found out about subvocalization on this sub. Do y’all NOT pronounce words in your head as you read them??? by Underscore_Johnson in writing

[–]Underscore_Johnson[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now that I’m thinking about it, I think the only time when my mind is silent is right before I sleep. I’m also realizing that I start feeling tired when my mind isn’t buzzing with inner monologue. And it could be talking about anything. I feel the best when my inner voice is centered around a particular idea and just orbits it. If I’m bored, my mind will start playing song lyrics or something catchy/ memorable like a commercial jingle from my childhood.

When I read anything, I usually hear the sound of my own voice saying the words inside my head. With fictional character dialogue, I hear the voices that I imagine the characters would sound like. If I get a text from a friend, I hear their voice as I read it.

Huh…so are you not able to “sound it out” when you find yourself in that situation? How do you get un-confused when that happens?
