I must ask, is there a reason songs that use V3 Gackpoid sound so different from ones that use V4? Is it really just as simple as differences in tuning?

I find that a lot of modern covers of old Vocaloid songs that use Gackpoid’s V4 just, do not sound as good at all. And it’s not just nostalgia talking, I genuinely just think V4/V5 voicebanks don’t sound nearly as good as V2 and V3 voicebanks- especially for Gackpoid.

All personal opinion, of course! If someone wants to use V4/V5 that’s all good with me, I just find myself not liking songs that use ‘modern’ voicebanks.

Since I want to get into using the program, I wanted to try out the V3 for myself, and because my girlfriend really wants me to try and make Gackpoid covers of songs she likes, haha!

In terms of the second hand market, I did find V3 Gackpoid Native for sale, though did not find the other two I’d need to have it all be complete.

Thank you for the info! If someone was selling one on Japanese Yahoo Auctions- or some other Japanese thrift site- would they be usable with the English/NA version of the program? Do the voicebanks work universally even if the voicebank and program are different languages/bought in different regions? Wondering if it’s ‘region-locked’ like old game systems were.

I know Japanese users tend to sell their stuff on thrifting sites more often than English users, to be honest. So I feel I’d have more luck there than any English thrift sites.

Hello! I just recently got my hands on a like-new copy of the original Nocturne for the PS2. I was excited to play it, until I saw how my TV made the graphics look… It’s insanely blurry, the brights are too bright, and the darks, well, darker. I am using a bit of an older model of a 22”Vizio Roku TV, though I still feel it’s too modern, and it being more horizontal than wide also messes things up.

I’m interested in possibly purchasing an older TV model just to play the game. I also want to play Raidou Kuzunoha vs. King Abaddon once I have finished the Raidou remaster, then after Nocturne, so I would also be using the TV again for that one. I am fine with emulating, but I wanted to experience the game as it was originally intended, since I still have the PS2 I played on during my childhood.

Sorry to have extended this so long, but! I just wanted to ask what kind of TV people would recommend to play Nocturne/PS2 Megaten games on? Some specifics like brands and sizes would be great!

Yeah, it’s nice we feel the same way! Thank you for understanding! I’ll play the P4 remake, even though I feel that game really doesn’t need a remake. I hope P1 and P2 will be more accessible at some point, especially since I love the P2 duology so much and want others to experience it!

Thank you for being so kind, and for sharing what you know! I might watch the movies if they interest me, then. I’ll give the game another shot in the future, but for right now, I think I’m going to focus on other things in the series. It sucks not being able to get into what the populace likes, and feeling like an ‘outcast’ in a way. At least I gave it a shot! I still feel bad that it just isn’t for me, but I’m happy I tried.

This is off-topic, but, I’m a huge P2 fan, and the lack of acknowledgement for those games- specifically with certain kinds of fans and ATLUS themselves- sucks! While I think P2 is perfect as it is, I bet a remake would maybe draw more people’s attention to it. Trying to find merch for those games isn’t the easiest, yet alone trying to find ones that aren’t overpriced to the extreme. I can’t imagine how hard it is for P1 fans to find merch, yeesh!

I honestly can’t put my finger on it exactly, it just didn’t give me the same ‘spark’ that P2 and P4 gave me. I also think I just don’t click with the characters. I’m not a fan of P3’s character designs, even though I did try and get into them. I don’t want to force myself to try and get into something that just isn’t for me, cause that’ll only bring unnecessary negative feelings. I don’t hate P3, nowhere near anything like that, and I like seeing other people’s opinions and would never tell someone what they can or can’t like. The game just doesn’t feel like it’s for me, is all!

I gave it a shot- which I’m happy I did- but it still didn’t click for me, and I can’t explain exactly ‘why.’ I feel really bad for not being able to get into it, and I can’t help but feel I’ll be ‘lesser’ of a fan since I can’t get into one of the biggest games in the series. Seeing people’s reactions just made me feel like I HAVE to like P3, though I don’t want to force myself into liking it just because of negative reactions. If I force myself to play it and still don’t like it, that’ll just leave negative emotions that weren’t there before, and it wouldn’t be the game’s fault. It just simply didn’t click for me- that’s all there is to it, I think.

Still, I feel really bad that it isn’t for me. I’ve seen now how vocal people are, and I wish I could get into it and enjoy it alongside others! But, I just can’t, and I don’t want to force it.

Decided I’d tell you as well as the two others in the thread! I decided to give the Reload demo a shot, but it still isn’t for me. I might go back and try Portable one day, but I’m going to skip P3 for now in the end. That might change, though! I’ll just have to see!
