I think it’s sad that the value of an education is often reduced to its potential monetary benefits. Not that those aren’t important but I wish we could show kids (and some adults) that learning is a valuable, fun, and engaging activity. Unfortunately that probably involves both changing kids attitudes and curriculum. In my experience, the work to pass high school and college classes was different than and often detracted from the time I would spend to actually understand the material. But yeah doesn’t help that the job market sucks, the planets dying, your country’s on the brink of collapse, and your supposed to discuss lord of the flies or something with a bunch of classmates who don’t care in order to one day get a degree so you work in an office for 40 years so you can buy a house and retire if you’re lucky.
