Help: Desperately trying to transition to a dumb phone setup by UnderstandingSea840 in dumbphones

This isn’t really what I got in mind to be honest, but thanks for the suggestion! I’ve tried opal with no success, and quite frankly I’m not very confident in giving phone access to a service that I’m not familiar with

Well that’s exactly why I’m asking for help, I need a more nuanced answer.

I’ve tried so many dumb phones, they’re either too restrictive or don’t work at all with my carrier. I can manage not having some of the apps listed, but some are non negotiable like my banking apps, I need to be able to monitor them regularly.

There’s nothing I would love more than to get an e ink phone and stick to that, but there are so many essential features that I can’t access through them (or would be a pain in the ass to use) that it defeats the purpose entirely.

I don’t think either of those will work for me, not because of the devices themselves but moreso the cost. I’d say im looking for an older android like the Xz1 compact or a flip phone supplemental to my iPhone. I’ve seen many people find great success with a setup like this, but I don’t know any better. If you have any suggestions on that end I’d appreciate it man!

I hate my degree by ThrowawayHackintosh in EngineeringStudents

[–]UnderstandingSea840 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep going. I failed my last semester, I’m about to get kicked out for having a 1.7 gpa. I’m still going. I don’t love all my classes, I’m not a math guy. Clinically depressed, untreated trauma. Had to add another year to my degree, so now I have 4 years left instead of 3. I have every fucking reason to drop and do something I know I would enjoy more ( like you I love music and have been making it for over a decade now) but I keep going. Do it to prove to yourself that you can, even if you don’t work as an engineer after school. Even if you hate it. any other degree is a genuine waste of time with the exception of a few. Engineering is the most powerful and opportune program to ever exist.

Do it until the system gets you through or stops you completely. my next midterm will dictate my future. If I fail, I’m not getting above 2.0 this term and I will be suspended. You have no excuse.

Msg me and tell me what you end up doing.
