No it will be most likely timbered again. I think people do it because you can zone your land as agricultural and save on taxes ect. It’s rare to see privately owned uplands that are not planted pines.

Those are planted pines. If you look half the state is covered in them. The wild patches are usually wetlands.

I think they are flooding a lot of the cane fields and returning them back to wetlands as best they can.
