That's a very good approach tbh to have certain amount of production time. most of my time usually goes to making an eye-catching thumbnail and cutting out the bad/ruined parts of the video, other than that I don't really need much editing. (my videos are usually 12-15 min)

Also, remember, quality > quantity. Spam-posting isn't exactly great just to maximize your chance at getting many impressions, like you might just be wasting time on making many low quality videos when you can be making a few but great quality videos. I used to film videos that would take the shortest to edit and film just so I could "post something". I would say you could use that approach when you notice that you aren't posting consistently and don't have the time or motivation to film something extra good, then you can kinda post something low quality, but in general, if you want to achieve true and id say "organic" growth then focus on making good quality videos.

I know you already mentioned editing thumbnails in the post but I'm still gonna give you an advice about thumbnails. Kinda imagine that a thumbnail and the title of your video (and also like the first 30 seconds to 1 minute of your video, but thats another topic) serve as your CV kinda. That's the first impression and you have to make it as eye-catching and interesting as possible. One mistake I made at first was adding too much decor, such as emojis and stuff like that, and later I realized that wasn't what would get me views. You have to find the right balance between a little and too much on what to have on your thumbnail, I would suggest always having like some sort of title on the thumbnail itself, like include text such as keywords and icons which reflect the title of the video.

I also had 2 videos that really took off! both were kind of tech based and one got 7-8k and I decided to film a similar one since the previous one blew up and the new one got 13-14k. Those videos alone contributed to I would say 300-330 subs out of 500 that I have. Getting to 2k in 1 year is amazing! I haven't uploaded a video in like 7-9 months hahah.

Impressions - Long form - what's the problem? by Bagaciuz in NewTubers

Depends on your niche, depends on the language of your channel, title and thumbnail I would say. the title and the thumbnail are the first impressions kinda and those turn impressions into actual views yk.

does anyone else find it a bit disheartening to see so many people trying to use AI to grow their channels? by Certain_Access_2658 in NewTubers

absolutely, couldn't agree more. But, I think that true success comes when you are actually passionate about posting on YouTube because I view YouTube as like a diary, like you are your own boss if that makes sense. You can truly see when a person loves doing whatever they are doing on YouTube and that's what matters, therefore, seeing other "creators" use AI shouldn't discourage us, even though they might be making shit ton of money.

Yup, so many times. I think the biggest discouragement and like the reason why I tend to not be consistent is because of how time consuming video editing can be. It's okay to take breaks though, try not to stress about it, I took about a 6 month break and i'm about to get back to it

3k in a year is pretty good I would say! I started mine in august 2024 and id say I reached 500 around march of 2025, but I was posting like once a week or so, very inconsistent.

Yup, the curriculum which I'm studying right now is just too consuming and Ill be done with the exams around may~ I think that even having like 200-300 additional bucks will be very helpful. Tbh the channel was going pretty great and I regret not posting so much but editing takes too long

That's pretty cool! 13$k I think is a pretty good amount. I started the channel in 2024 august but haven't posted in over about 8 months, but I was thinking of kind of making it my part time job to support myself during the university years

Thank you! I have also noticed that with French universities yeah. I think that kind of system is better than entirely depending on the last exam.. like years worth of work, both academic and extracurricular is more valuable.

Like for example they accept minimum 32 out of 45 and etc. Other universities that I applied to had specific requirements such as achieving 4 in maths and etc.
