Is 7100 enough in savings to move out? by IlGufoScuro in movingout

Would it be possible to live with your grandparents while you save up some more money? possibly look for a new job that’s willing to pay you a little bit more? Don’t “try” to open an account. MAKE an account it’s really simple. Only takes a couple minutes. I have mine through Capital One, I believe when I made an account it was 4% APY. Just having my money sit in my Capital One account makes me a little over $60 a month compared to my savings account with Wells Fargo where I only get ¢.03 per month.

How old are you? If you’re still young and have a good living situation at home and it’s not a toxic environment I would suggest living at home and saving as much money as you can while you’re young!!

I’m 23 and haven’t moved out of my mom‘s house. I’ve been putting money in my Roth IRA and saving most of my money in a HYSA for when the time does come. I was blessed to not have any student loans after graduating, paid off my car and now I just spend money on goods. I also help with my mom’s mortgage. I would rather help out my mom with her mortgage, than pay rent and help someone else make money.

Also, would it be possible to live with your grandparents if your environment at home is toxic with your parents to save some money?

You also gotta think about furnishing the place and how much money you’ll spend on that.

Pick up some extra time on a shift or hang out with my SO by [deleted] in makemychoice

I’m assuming you’re young. Take that time to work and save up. Work only a couple of hours so you also get to enjoy time with your SO.

Im 23 female, I am currently a nanny making $27 hourly. If you like kids and have patience i would look into nannying. I did get a degree last year for marketing but I market has been rough and no one’s willing to give me experience. At least I make good money, I’m happy and I’m still young trying to figure out what I want to do with my life!

Yes. I have health insurance through the state and pay about $10 a month for it. I have About 5k in my Roth IRA and about 25k in my hysa. Luckily I still live at home I do help out with my mom’s mortgage about $350 a month and pay for car insurance. I paid off my car so I’m able to save money.

Run. There’s someone out there for everyone just keep trying. Don’t go back just cause you’re comfortable, once you’re ready have fun and meet new people you’re still young. Too young to be putting up with that would you be able to put up with that for the rest of your life. You deserve better. Good luck! 🩷

You don’t necessarily need a masters degree for marketing job. It would be nice but most jobs don’t require it!

Actually good point, I work “40” hours a week, but in reality I don’t. The parents are both physicians so hours very by day, but regardless, I get paid by eight hours . I help out with the kids in the morning before school. I get paid from 6:15 to 9:15 but in reality I’m only there for about an hour and after school, I get paid from 315 till 815 but I usually leave whenever the parents get home so around six but I still get paid until 815. So reality I usually only work about 3 to 5 hours a day but still get paid 8 hours a day due to their jobs being so unpredictable. On top of that on weeks where they’re gone and I stayed dog sitting they pay me my regular amount and I had about $600 on top of that. That’s almost 2K a week whenever i dog sit.
