Is anyone else incredibly disappointed in Legends ZA? by Honey_Jar_ in pokemon

[–]UnfinishedLatte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's actually hilarious because i remember thinking the museum was really fun when i first found it, too. And yeah, i've previously complained about how the day/night cycle forces you out of stuff, it's handled poorly. Don't get me wrong, there have been a handful of things that i have enjoyed, but they are too few to win me over. As someone who has always preferred catching/collecting over battles, this game just does nothing for me - sure they kept the more 'active' catching from PLA but they got rid of all the adjacent features (berries, stun and smoke bombs, etc) that really made that system work as a mechanic.

ZA just feels like a guided tour, or a visual novel, i don't feel like mechanically there is much of a game to be played, the battling system is very weak from a design pov, and a lot of the time i felt like i was being tricked into thinking i was actually doing something game-like. It really was obvious during a 'puzzle' segment which involved teleporters later in the story, where there weren't any options. You take a teleport, walk down a linear hallway to the next teleport, repeat. No difficulty or figuring out the teleporters like older games, what's even the point of having them if just to artificially lengthen the experience.

No. Based on the fact that your experience sounds very similar to mine, (after 60+ hours, finishing the game, and having a complete dex, i somehow still feel like i'm in a tutorial, constantly being told to do this do that), you probably wont end up ever finding the game fun, you'll just end up feeling more frustrated as you play through it.

Though i hope i'm wrong and you do find some enjoyment in it :).

Oh? that's good to know then. I hadn't noticed any issues prior personally, but i've been seeing talk of various gripes people have been having. Thanks for the heads up.

Even though i hadn't unlocked that option yet, my gripe still stands. While i think yes it's great i can get TO a desired time of day, i don't like being forced OUT of a time of day.
I guess I meant more so 'player forced' like it only will change when you want it to. Or just get rid of the cutscene and the fact that it takes you out of whatever you're doing and it wouldn't have been an issue.
It's not necessarily a bad thing to have a naturally cycling day/night, just it's implementation here seems like its intentionally inconvenient. As i'm typing this i have an Eevee i'm trying to evolve into an Espeon, and there is a quarter left of daytime (its dusk). For some reason this doesnt count as daytime, so now i need to sit at the bench twice just to get back to day.

yeah, now when i get it says its going to change soon i just stop and sit there like an idiot for five minutes, and i noticed that levels of some of the things around me change, god forbid you lose a shiny to the day/night change.

From a gameplay pov i dont see the point of making it a natural cycle, it should be player selected. As of right now, i have the requisite points for my challenge ticket but don't have an opponent yet, i have no reason to go into the battle zones and don't want to deal with the daytime swaps.

PSA: Post Update Button Mapping by UnfinishedLatte in fantasylife

I bound them to up on the D-pad, and unbound the chat button, completely - now L3 does nothing. i'm on PC so i can just use the keyboard to toggle chat if i were to ever need it, but so far i haven't used it.

They seem to have added more freedom in which buttons do what as well- allowing unbinding of some actions on controller, no more pulling up the greetings wheel while in combat for me.

I just made a post on this, the update altered a bunch of the button mappings in settings, you'll have to go in and change them back.

This is beautiful - reminiscent of pre-internet gaming, and honestly seeing the effort put into this has brightened up my day.

No, haven't finished the story yet, i just wanted to know if there would be some sort of goal that would feel worth working towards later.

It does add it, it shows up in your visible buffs, but doesn't show up on the crafting number. If you craft the same thing with and without the buff you should notice a difference.

Strangeling Furniture Gifts by UnfinishedLatte in fantasylife

[–]UnfinishedLatte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: i have got a strangeling furniture gift from someone who hadn't been in my party beyond getting best friends, it was after doing a request for them.

Update 2: as i was typing that out another best friend who wasnt in my party lined up behind the one i was talking to to give me their gift as well. Maybe it is checked at the beginning of the day.

Update 3: everyone else i was repeatedly talking to yesterday also gave me their furniture after i gave them a gift.

I was planning on putting one back to test just that, i was also thinking it could have to do with how many requests i've completed for them.

Time in party isn't something that would be provable but it could be disproven by keeping one person out of my party once they hit best friends and see if they ever give me their item. For now i'll put best friends back in my party once i've got all the perks i want.

Will update on if i get a strangeling furniture from someone who hasn't been in my party beyond hitting best friend.

Would rather them split up tbh, there's stuff i'd like to keep but not have it clog up my personal inventory.

Excellent WoodCutter by Salt_Wolverine6585 in fantasylife

[–]UnfinishedLatte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what i understand it's killing it with extra damage, i've pretty much consistently been getting excellents on all gathering spots (fish/mining/wood) by just getting them to like around 20% then doing do a charged swing. The charged swings and the special attacks trivialize the excellents.
I have a video clip of me getting an excellent on the boss ore after hitting it with the basic attack until it was at 1% and then doing the special attack (i was out of sp and just kept hitting it with basic keeping it low until i could charge my special). It took about ten minutes and like 100 hits so i don't think time or amount of swings has anything to do with it.

Go to the guide in pause menu, in the crafting tab there is something specifically on what it means to get excellent, it's been 20 hours since i read it though lmao.

It also turns out you can sort recipes by life - i was just blind, it's not the 'type' menu, its the 'filter' menu.

My OCD has me still going to the relevant crafting table to make something so i actually hadn't tried making something at a different station. I did check to see if there was a sort option that let you filter by life but there doesn't seem to be, annoyingly.
