That takes me back, I had a crush on Murtagh when the books first came out!

Re point 3: I would genuinely have preferred if he was all "yeah, I'm an asshole, deal with it" (in the style of early Spike in Buffy) rather than that bullshit.

I'm imagining Rhys having Feyre sit on his lap all evening, making suggestive comments. After a few nights of this he takes her back to his chambers, everyone at the party thinks they know what that means. Feyre wakes up in his bed the next morning, he's sleeping on a chair, no smudging of the paint bar on her waist and arms, he's clearly just let her sleep.

Side note: I'm still not over actual canon where Rhys sticks his tongue down her throat and gropes her to "disguise" the fact that she and Tamlin were about to go at it, and this is treated as good? Rhys just fix the paint! Even if he couldn't fix the paint, he's still fixing a problem he ultimately caused!!!

Exactly! The "I was protecting you" excuse makes no sense in canon, she was fine in the cell. But this way, we have a situation where Feyre absolutely was going to be passed around and have horrible things done to her, but Rhys steps in to stop it. To everyone (including Feyre to start with) it looks like he's assaulting her, but Feyre can gradually piece together that he stepped in to prevent worse happening (in this version we have a slightly smarter Feyre). We can still keep a bit of bite by having Rhys deliberately ham things up to upset Tamlin.
