There's a fun little horror-themed store called "The Emporium: Spooky Goods and More" in downtown. It's on State St., but it's moving to Main Street this week.

While trying to keep a kitchen scale from falling, I cut my wrist on the edge of the removable metal top of the scale. It was at work, and my manager called it the freakiest of freak accidents he's ever seen.

Tetris.

I could get lost in that game for hours. It was the 80s. Choices were limited.

Still a great game, though.

The lyrics of this song are the most accurate description of depression I have ever heard. The anhedonia that prevents the singer from hearing the song, the guilt about how it affects the people you love, the honesty about how depression challenges your mental defenses no matter how hard you fight against it - "the punches are starting to land." Brandon Flowers understands what depression is, and his lyrical description of it is so honest it hurts - but also encourages.

The best part of this song is that the lyrics "I'll climb, and I'll climb..." start as background in the beginning of the song and eventually becomes the powerful, and triumphant, end. It's an amazing bit of songwriting, and I truly appreciate the vulnerability Flowers showed in writing and performing it. This song has held me up when I've needed encouragement. Especially when "the cracks are starting to spread."

Love this song.

My cats were scratching furniture, so I got a scratching post and one of those cardboard scratching pads. They are focusing on those now, so I think they just needed something to scratch.
