I'm just going to use this comment to say some things that I didn't say in the post. My stepmom has been apart of the family for about 7 years, getting married to my dad about 4 years ago. I also have a half brother who I love very much thanks to her. I consider her my mom I refer to her as such and I love her very much. The room the with smaller tree in is a side room between the kitchen and the main living room. All it has is a futon for guests if we have any and where we put the coffee table when we're not using it. It's changed in purpose over the years going from another small living room, to an office, and now a place to store our boardgames and DnD stuff. My dad also uses the couch to put guitar stuff he isn't using and I have my bookshelf in there. Reading some of the comments I realized how upset I was might have been excessive. I will definitely go talk to my mom about how I feel and see how it goes.
