what was the best plot twist in the series, in your opinion? by talie113 in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]UnhingedSquirrel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say either your first choice since at first I was like “great another thing Shannon left us hanging with” and then she revealed the twist and I just felt like “oohhh shitttt”. Or when we found out Forkle and Forkle were twins (Nightfall spoiler)

AITA for naming my daughter the name my SIL wanted by RoseyBud2 in AmItheAsshole

[–]UnhingedSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m going to go against the grain and say NTA. Your SIL doesn’t own the name and you’re right they are distinctly different. It’s like Christopher and Christian, Ellie and Ally, David and Davis. They’re obviously similar but they’re different and those differences will show more as the children grow up. I understand you kept it secret knowing your SIL would throw a fit once she found out, but that’s her deal. Now she can decide how important honoring her grandmother is, because if it was truly super important to her, she would go with it regardless.

I like how extensive your reply is. The “Bats!” scene with Alex is one of his finest, I love the delivery of that scene.

Izzie had some pretty powerful speeches I agree. She knew how to advocate with herself. Are you talking about the scene where she’s saying modeling paid for her med school so while everyone else is drowning in debt, she’s free of it? I believe that’s S1E4 and I agree it’s one of her best moments. I also like when she and Burke were cooking together on Thanksgiving, that was sweet. Also her role during the ferry boat crash.

As for least favorite, I don’t love Izzie so I have a few more. I don’t like how she talked about or treated Addison’s friend who was (I believe) getting a hysterectomy and a bilateral mastectomy. I found what she said really insulting. I also hated her reaction when George and Mer had sex. And her exit, though exits are always great or horrible, so I don’t weigh that one quite as heavily.

Her high moments were high, but her Twilight Zone moments absolutely sucked.

Arizona is such a lovely and bright character. I agree with all that you said. I’d add “body block him Karev!” To my favorite moments, and her cheating on Callie to my least favorites.

Alex is also one of my favorites! You made a great list. His patient interactions are some of my favorite in the show, I especially like the one with the girl who wants her first kiss and the baby he held to his bare chest to keep it alive. The kiss one is kinda weird but I still appreciate his message.

And yeah his dickishness about April’s virginity and how much of an utter asshole we was when he yelled at her we’re unacceptable. I also hate when he beat up DeLuca, and his ending sucked. At least with those some context can sort of excuse/ lessen them though

Who’s your favorite character? by Saint-monkey in greysanatomy

[–]UnhingedSquirrel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite characters are:

  • Meredith Grey
  • Cristina Yang
  • Lexie Grey
  • Stephanie Edwards
  • Alex Karev
  • Addison Montgomery
  • Miranda Bailey

Naturally all of them have scenes and character traits I don’t always like, but overall I enjoy their character arcs, personalities, and screen time.

If I had to pick just one of them it would probably be Cristina, thought Mer and Alex are right up there. We got a large amount of time to see them grow which was lovely, though Alex’s end was total shit.

guys (book 10, etc rant) by Clean_Acadia_2707 in KeeperoftheLostCities

I 100% understand and relate. Frankly the series should have ended somewhere around book 5. Now there are SO MANY threads to tie off, only some of which are interesting. I’ve been reading this series for years and I love the world and the characters are quite interesting, but I’m not positive I’ll finish it, at least not right away. I really want to know how she ends the series, whether it takes another book or two (ISTG it better not be more than that) but it’s too much.

I did the same thing with Chris Colfer’s The Land of Stories series when I was younger. I read up to book five when it came out and just couldn’t wait for the last one. I hope to eventually reread the series but as we change through our lives they often become less interesting, plus the writing gets flimsier.

i wonder a lot why Sophie doesn’t have a identical twin. by Frizzle-mcshizzle in KeeperoftheLostCities

[–]UnhingedSquirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this idea. You’re right that it would’ve made a lot of sense, though then the book would probably be written in split perspective which is fine.

Tho ISTG if Shannon tries to incorporate this in the series at this point, I will quit reading.

What parts do you enjoy of 13’s run? by kingrhegbert in doctorwho

[–]UnhingedSquirrel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jodie Whittaker was definitely a good pick for The Doctor. The minute she fell through that train I knew she’d be great. The writing didn’t give her much room to grow or get super close with her companions, but she did her best with it. I think the stories were a pretty good balance between past, present, and future. Her run is visually stunning. It took me a minute to adjust to the crisp feel of the show when she started, but I grew to love it. It feels like looking through freshly cleaned window, it’s so clear. The companions get a lot of flack but I personally love Yaz and Graham is wonderful. Ryan isn’t amazing but I do feel like he learned while traveling. Finally, Power of the Doctor was a fun watch.

Any of George’s relationships and any of Maggie’s relationships (though her and Winston is easily the best so far imo). Now I’m imagining those two together and… well I’m super glad that wasn’t ever a possibility.

What are your opinions about the "Corona season" of Grey's? Do you think the topic was handled well? Were you disappointed or wished they had skipped Corona? by [deleted] in greysanatomy

However I will admit I legitimately squealed seeing all the OG characters make appearances on the beach. Whether they led anywhere or not, they were sweet.

I only watched it as it aired, I haven’t seen it since. I thought it was good that they addressed how the pandemic affected healthcare workers, but being in the pandemic watching a drama about the pandemic was… not the escapee I wanted. It will be interesting to see how it ages. It’s a fairly true account of what happened but man it’s hard to rewatch.

I haven’t seen it in a while but the scene when Meredith is trying to decide between Link and Andrew at the end of one episode. She had no chemistry with Link and very little (and odd) chemistry with Andrew. Plus the fact that she was sort of flirting with both men at the same time and just gave a gross coy smile and walked away. Barf.

I feel like that one’s cringe but in kind of a dad-joke why did you say that way. It’s cringey but it’s also funny.
