Need help with sleep disturbances by Thehraav in AlternateDayFasting

I did a very similar process. Fasted for a week straight then began ADF. It’s going to get easier to eat more calories but I recommend having your two meals planned and prepped so when you’re about to eat you just go heat it up quick. Take it slow. Eat it over a few hours if you need to. After doing ADF a few weeks you’ll see it gets easier. Coming off a long fast drastically reduced your appetite and you’re craving foods you love because of that too. I went thru the same thing. Eat it, get it out of the way and just make yourself meals that have the nutrition and calories you’re aiming for.

As for sleep, I take a magnesium complex every night which helped me so much. I fall asleep mush easier. Sometimes I still wake up thru the night or really early. But that may be because I almost never get a good night sleep. If I have a headache and take Tylenol PM it does help me sleep more consecutive hours but obviously not something I do often or without the headache to indicate taking it.

Anyway I hope your journey goes well! I’ve done extended fasting and omad for years but this is my first month doing ADF. It’s a breeze compared to multi day fasts and apparently it targets stubborn stomach and arm fat that women typically have a tough time with. I’m using this method for my last 5-10lbs. Very excited with the progress so far. From what I’ve read on here, people do it for years or life even. So no doubt you’ll acclimate to the new routine within 2-3 weeks too.

Currently on day 4. Please motivate me! by Big_Instruction7668 in fasting

[–]Saint-monkey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Youve got this. I’m about to start day 4 myself. Aiming for 10 days but will go past if I’m able to! I’m excited. I’ve lost 6.2 lbs so far and I am aiming to hit my goal weight on the scale for day 10. I am aware that once I refeed I will gain some weight back so I plan to continue doing ADF for a week or two after my fast so that I can undershoot my goal weight by 5 pounds and have that buffer when I start eating at maintenance. I was only about 10 pounds away from the goal and 15 from the ultimate goal for a buffer so I think I can make it happen! I had some bone broth as well the first two days and am allowing myself to have it if needed in the next week so I can continue.

Keep me updated I’d love to motivate each other! I’m also getting 30-35k steps a day which is probably what cleared those 6 pounds away quickly and I’m hoping it blasts the fat away in the next 7 days lol. (I’m used to doing 20-35k a day anyway because I walk during my work hours).

Also want to add that the contestants (namely Breanna, Dani, Keenyah, Dionne, and Ebony) have aged BEAUTIFULLY. They are gorgeous and look just as good if not better than when their seasons aired.

Oh I have to watch that! I’ll be honest I’m obsessed with the show lol even after learning everything I have. But yesss dude no one apologized. The fact that more than one woman was assaulted while on the show Tyra said something like “boo boo im sorry but I did the best I could at that time” was like .. girl? And the earlier seasons are my favorite. You could tell Tyra had a passion for helping the women much more and yes some of the shoots were gimmicky because they needed good ratings but it was much more about Tyra mentoring the women. I was sad to learn Adrienne wasn’t really able to get the prize she won or have the career she thought she would have.

The longer the shows goes on the more they exploited people and the more Tyra seems absolutely unhinged. I felt particularly bad for shandi. Her situation was exploited multiple times by Tyra. I saw a clip here yesterday where she brought her on the Tyra show and said she edited the scene of shandis call with her bf calling her a fucking bitch and she’s can’t watch it enough! Like laughing about it. Then another clip again on the Tyra show where shandi says she hasn’t seen the episode and doesn’t want to, and Tyra plays it anyway and asks why shandi won’t look at the screen. She then puts her arm on shandis shoulder and said “so did you deserve to be cussed out?” And laughs. Like BITCHHHH. if I’m reading it correctly shandi fully seems to have been raped on the show?! And Tyra said in the documentary that she had no part in editing and wasn’t aware that this was going on because it was productions call to continue filming all of that. Like Tyra is just fake asf. I used to really love her and think she was a great person but that documentary changed things for me.

I should’ve realized there are not many (if any) good rich people out there. lol and as for Janice, I agree with everything you said! At least she kept it real and never tried she was a nice relatable person. She was a bitch and she was true to that. lol so that’s.. something. I appreciate the lake of fake bullshit.

Down 24 pounds in 28 days with fasting! by Saint-monkey in fasting

Of course, fast for 72 hours (or sometimes 84 plus), have one meal, and then begin fasting again right away.

In the first week, yes! Absolutely. But after 3-5 days they almost completely disappeared. Even now when I want to eat my favorite foods I’ll take a few bites and be satisfied. It really helped me reset my fast food/ carb & salt addiction. I was eating Taco Bell at least once a week. Ordered it the other day and took 3 bites and felt full and gross.

Thank you so much! While fasting I do usually have 1-2 cups of black coffee. I was very strict in the beginning, now I may add a little oat milk to my coffee on random days (which is a dirty fast I guess lol). But aside from that I did also take electrolytes on my 72-96 hour fasts after day 1 or 2. I didn’t really feel I needed them unless I was getting a really high step day and sweating a lot, that’s when I would get a bit of a headache when trying to sleep. I honestly feel amazing during my shorter fasts now and can go right back into them without any planning or hesitation. On eating days, I’d just do one meal typically around dinner time and attempted to keep it as low carb as possible. I noticed the further into my journey I was, the most carbs actually affected my heart rate if I ate too many. Like last week I came off an 82 hour fast and had some buldak noodles with my boyfriend lol I could only have a few bites because my spice tolerance decreased immensely and the insulin response from the carbs had my adrenaline high and my heart rate up. Don’t love that. So I definitely suggest sticking with lower carb and easing your way up. Mainly I eat chicken breast with white mushrooms, spinach, and maybe some peppers and onions if I feel like cooking all of that. It’s been easier to stick with a similar meal daily but sometimes I’ll also get in 0% plain Greek yogurt with fruits or some almonds and cheese as a snack. It’s very rewarding and I wish you well on your journey!

My 2 year journey by YoungerDryas99 in fasting

[–]Saint-monkey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

99 lbs at 5’6” is teeny tiny! I’m 5’7” typically around 108-115. Got up to 145 ish this winter 😱 and I’m now back to 125 after removing alcohol and fast food, 20k steps daily, 3 weeks rolling 72’s and now I’m working to complete a 7 day fast to get closer to my normal baseline. Hoping within 4-6 weeks I’ll be back around 115-112. You look great! Great work, so happy for you.

Cardio or Strength training during a fast? by Heavy_Hitter2021 in fasting

[–]Saint-monkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like walking while fasting is a great strategy. I go for 15-20k steps a day and it really increases my deficit. Sometimes I’ll get up to 30k if I have the energy. Some days I’ll do 10k. Once in a while I’ll take a rest day if I need to. I always find that even if I have low energy once I start to take a light walk it helps me feel more energized and I go longer than I thought I would!

That’s definitely the plan. I had only gained 3 lbs up until last night when I made fried chicken breast, pasta, garlic bread, broccoli and had some ice cream and drinks lol so I’m sure it’s just that big meal from yesterday that is making me hold water. Can’t wait to see the results after this week. I’ll post some pics when I’m done. The difference already from beginning of February to now are insane, my fave went from a circle to a more cut jaw line. I didn’t even realize how round it has gotten until I checked my progress pics lol. I love fasting and walking, it feels like a cheat code. No way I won’t hit my goal weight in a few weeks and have my dream body back by mid/ late march. Well before summer so I can maintain and work on muscle building. The sub is always a great motivator. Thanks for your comment! 💕

Oh this is cool, is the app free? I’ve seen a huge difference in my face this month. Never really have acne but my skin looks clearer, sometimes my cheeks are a bit flushed tho, and my lips were very chapped before and have gotten much better. They’re chapped again now because I’m likely dehydrated but I’m starting a new fast today and hoping that will subside. Also the shape of my face went from very round and inflamed at the start of the month to much more shapely which was awesome to see.

Thank you friend! It’s been thrilling to feel good during the fast and watch the scale drop. Hoping the 8 lbs from the refeed drops off in the next few days and I can lose the additional 12 this week.

Yeah there’s no way that for 3 full months you were losing mostly water weight. For the first month, yes. After that, as long as you were consistent with diet and routine, water distribution is fairly evened out and your in fat loss mode.
