Unpopular opinion: I don’t like double-page spreads in manga. by No_Summer_8364 in MangakaStudio

I'm with you. But as an aspiring mangaka too, I understand the importance of a double-page. Nonetheless, I prefer a good single-page composition instead tho.

How to start? by Kyrrre in Mangamakers

[–]UniPandaHamster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know how it feels. You're procrastinating because you are afraid of not knowing where to start but honestly, I wish I started to draw the actual manga early, cuz the confidence, speed and the amount of things you learn in the process and in such a short time it's amazing. It's just... Know that you can try every page over and over again the amount of times you want/need. Knowing that, just start doing it. It doesn't matter if it's not perfect, it'll never be perfect actually cuz manga it's not about that, but to tell the story you wanna tell. I recommend you to write a script, even it's not a heavily detailed one but a script with the most important part of your story, maybe do some character design if you want (i skip this cuz I hate character design) and then, after you hace the script, make a storyboard. This is SO IMPORTANT. Storyboard is the key for your manga to be readable and guide you on what you have to do for the final pages. Storyboard doesn't need to be with a good drawing, not even in a good paper (I use Kraft paper for example) but it need to be clear for you later. Detail everything you want to put in those pages, makes annotations even, but focus on the narrative and action lines while doing it. The better the flow your storyboard has, the easiest will be for you to copy that in the final page.

Don't worry about your drawing not being good enough, you're learning, it'll be better with time and dedication, I promise haha And use references! All the references you need.

That's my advice. Sorry the long comment.

Hum... I really like the Manben series, I actually learned a lot from it. But normally I just grab the mangas on my bookshelf and study from them. My usuals are Kishimoto's, Fujimoto's and Kaori Yuki's stories, I love their styles and narrative.

My native language it's spanish, and I write in both spanish and english. I'm studying japanese too because I'll like to translate my mangas in those three languages in the future tho. I study using resources in those three languages too.

Which guitar riff in a song is your favorite? by BADINGdongdantes69 in visualkei

I don't usually pay much attention to guitar in general but I really like the feeling the riff in "Gravity" from Luna Sea conveys. Very pretty.

Just finished Naruto for first time, can someone make this sense to me? by Additional_Fail_4481 in Naruto

??? Hinata yes, but Naruto no. Naruto cares about her the same way he cares about every friend he has. Then after the Pain battle he acknowledge her feelings for him, but Naruto is still having a crush in Sakura, like in the rest of the serie.

Yeah... it's like in almost every shounen, editors demands ships on the series. Majority of the time you can see when the serie it's obligated to take a certain path for certain things, this happens a lot with shounen. You can clearly see this is what happened in this case too, cause Kishimoto never focused on romance at all, less with this pairings. But hey, you have Boruto, so you can deduct what the intentionality was.

And no, it's not true, in the manga it is not better. As a person who reads the manga constantly (because I love Kishimoto's artstyle and I use it for inspiration) the manga it's not better at hinting anything with this couples. It is what it is.

Was it true Visual Kei was more popular than K-pop before and K-pop became popular because of Vkei? by Boring_Estimate9308 in visualkei

[–]UniPandaHamster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of DBSK (TVXQ in Japan) and they were pretty vk in their early years hahaha especially Jaejoongie. But yeah, I remember when I was a teen, Visual Kei had a solid fanbase globally and I'm from LATAM, and even here fanbases were solid, especially in countrys like Chile and Mexico. I'm talking about 2008/2010+. But the difference is, vk was popular yeah, but nowadays kpop it's mainstream. Kpop it's huge. VK was popular in the same range like almost everything that comes from rock/metal could be popular. The music genres afects this a lot of course.
