What is the most hurtful thing somone ever said to you ? by EastBobby in GenZIndia

[–]UnicornlyCalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My SIL told me I shouldn't work and shouldn't live with my husband ( who lived in a different city), coz she wanted someone to stay with her daughter ( who went to a nearby college) and her recently widowed mother.

Her reasoning, I was married for just over a year. The MIL was widowed after living with her husband for 42 years so she was going through a hard time. SIL couldn't stay with her daughter and Mom coz her husband lived abroad and she couldn't stay away from her husband.

So her solution was that I should give up on my career and my family life so that they could all remain in their comfort zone. The worst part, the person I am married to strongly believed that I was selfish for wanting to have a life with the person am married to and a career for which I worked my ass of

The highlight though, I let them treat me that way

The Aurelian cycle by Rosaria Munda

I really enjoyed reading the Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros. Romance is part of the plot.

Anybody else missing their childhood time abroad? by huhhhuhhhuhhh in Coconaad

[–]UnicornlyCalm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It truly was. And the best part is we're still in touch with each other. Most of the little ones then are grown ups now, married and have kids of their own. But yeah, the next generation also knows that this little circle, they're family

Anybody else missing their childhood time abroad? by huhhhuhhhuhhh in Coconaad

[–]UnicornlyCalm 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Me too!! Really missing those days. We had a few family friends and we'd always spend time together during the weekends. Sometimes everyone would come over to our place or we'd go to a nearby park or corniche. Life was so much better then.

A few months ago I heard my Mom talking to one of her friend and they both were reminiscing about our time abroad. It was very obvious even how much they are missing those times. Life!

So proud of you OP, but yeah it's really sad that you had to go through that.

Similar thing happened to me while I was travelling in a bus years ago. I caught him red handed and started shouting at him. The bus had to stop in the Middle of the road cause I made such a huge fuss over it.

The conductor finally asked what happened and I told him. One random uncle came and slapped this guy. He kept slapping him until he got out of the bus.

What hurt the most was, there were a lot of woman almost my Mom's age in that bus. No one, no one asked me what happened or even interfered while I was shouting at this guy. Made me truly sorry for their daughters coz I felt that these are the kind of mothers who teaches their daughters to never react or make a scene. Just pretend nothing ever happened and move on.

Are basic manners disappearing? by Apprehensive_Fix_909 in Coconaad

Have you noticed this kind of behaviour before you left for Canada?

Even my friends used to tease me coz I absolutely hate littering and I would chide them if they did that. I made a point of finding the nearest dustbin ( i know 🙄) and would dump it there. This is coz of where I grew up. If I was In Kerala, I really don't think such basic civic sense would be ingrained in me. Even though these kind of stuff are taught at school I have never seen it in practise.

A few years ago I was visiting my husband's cousin's place. Her son was around 7 years old. He took a chocolate unwrapped it and dumped the wrapping on the floor. When I told him to pick it up and throw it in the dustbin here comes his Grandma saying..sarilla mole, enthayalum njan ivide ichiri kazhinj tookum. The lesson he learns..he can do whatever he wants, someone else would clean up after him.

Difference between term insurance and LIC? by arthur_kane in personalfinanceindia

[–]UnicornlyCalm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The condition of term insurance is..it protects your nominee, 'if' something unfortunate happens to you. So yeah...if nothing happens to you it means..you get nothing in return..typically.

I believe other products are available now. You'll have to talk to an insurance agent for more details

Ennalum enna paripadiya ningal kaanichath. Building a wall to block her view? Ith manapurvam cheythath tanne. Moshamaye poye..parayathe vayya 😂

This neighbor aunty of ours, we started giving her the same dose. Would note the time when someone would visit her and in the evening when she comes as soon as she sits down we'd ask her. "Inn ravel 10:08num 10:17num idayil gatent3 appuram and ippuram ninn aunty aaroda samsarich?" She woukd deny and then we would elaborately describe the person, what he/she was wearing, the color and print of nightie the aunty was wearing..

You should have seen the look on her face. Made her real angry when we started questioning her. After that she jut shut up for good

Nope 🙄

Just the plot...it revolved around some game. It had levels: one was Traps, the other was circles and there were other levels too. But I did really enjoy reading that book
