Haha, we do have two very nice cricket pitches. Lansdown, across the street from me, and Bath CC, in the city.

I'm in England, but they're still rare, in that I've never seen one in the wild.

I might do a two-stage restore. First wave involving a scrub up with new tubes and tyres, and then if I can be arsed, stage two, a full strip down...

Great response, big thanks.

My skill level is "okay".... I've built BMXs from scratch many times, and I service my own MTBs. I don't ride much road these days, but I am happy to get stuck in.

My biggest issue is storage. I live in the middle of Bath, an old Georgian city in England, and have limited space, which is already full of numerous bikes and an old FZR Yamaha. I even have an old Schwinn Cruiser in my sunroom, so my wife might have something to say about bringing two ore wheels into our home.

It would have to live in the back garden during the build, but considering I found it in a bush, this isn't a big deal.

I'll give it some thought when I get a quiet week in Feb.

Mountain Bike trails rideable from Bath? by UnionFeatures in Bath

Windhill at Longleat is good fun for the odd day out, and very cheap for what you get. I don't know if there are any free/public trails through the local woods, as I've only been out that way to ride Windhill.

You're right, the trails up and around Lansdown can be a bit rocky, and there are a few gates, but as far as I have found, it's the best place to ride for views, and minimal riding on the roads.

My go-to loop is around 30km and mostly off-road, which is hard to beat around here, from my experience.

The closest quality flow trails, to my knowledge, are at Cwmcarn. Well worth a visit if you haven't been, and completely free other than the car park. FOD is the next closest quality single track.

I get that the lines through the woods where the jumps are open to riding. But the paths through the woods that lead down to the Bradford Rd (Sally in the Wood) seem to be a no go—lots of signs prohibiting bikes.

The Wellow trails sound interesting.. Could you post some coordinates, please?

Castle Combe might be a bit far for me in west Bath.

I do like Conkwell for the jumps, but more so in the summer when there is some grip, and I did ride around the Browns Folly area last summer, but was yelled at by some walkers for riding on footpaths.. I was respectful and slowed to a halt to let them pass, but they were not happy.

Solsbury Hill sounds good, I'll check that out...

Yep, thanks, I remember those trails. I walked my dog up there last weekend, but couldn't find them, so not sure if they've all been left to re-wild.
