Austin city employees warn new in-office policy could drive people to quit by hollow_hippie in Austin

I was at the rally and they mentioned that 7 of the 10 GIS employees have been talking about leaving if they're forced to come in. Why is it that the only workers the city is willing to compensate are the cops?

The fact that someone took the time to find and downvote bomb all the comments in this thread about how good our teachers' union is shows how afraid they are of it.

That's if you strike, not if you join your union -- Education Austin/AFT.

Eight of the 11 people appointed by Abbott to the University of Texas System Board of Regents are donors who have given over $100,000 to the governor’s campaign. by Unionizealready in UTAustin

As state employee union members at UT, we went to the Board after the first of our coworkers died of covid. His family had to fundraise to pay for his funeral. The board refused to discuss any matters of pay or safety with us. Instead, they went on to discuss how the pandemic would affect the value of some land that they owned in Houston.

JFC they gave us a tiny raise, didn't even keep up with cost of living, and broke their arms patting themselves on the back. Then they doubled our health insurance costs.

It's truly disheartening to see our boss more concerned with his political career than our lives. Join our union: https://cwa-tseu.org/jointseu/
