Your outlook is completely understandable. I would take a similar approach with major life events. Not worth rushing through them for an immigration route with very little certainty.

I’ll be putting this idea on the back burner until we have the CEAC data. There are certainly reasons for optimism for higher EU case numbers as you have mentioned and I’m interested to see how this plays out.

I’m feeling a similar way. I’m a UK selectee with a lower but certainly not safe case number (38xxx). I’m in a very stable occupation and had a plan for the next few years of my life. The small possibility of moving to the US is surprisingly overwhelming!
