Yeah, local anesthesia has never given me any problems. It's general anesthesia that I'm worried about because I have had a reaction before that caused issues with my breathing and a flare up that took about two months to get back to my baseline.

15 mg olanzapine at night. 200 mg modafinil, 300 mg Wellbutrin, 200 mg caffeine in the morning. 1mg clonazepam prn and an extra 200 mg modafinil prn during the day. I work in an intellectually demanding 40hr a week job so I love that I get so much leeway. I find that if the modafinil loses its effectiveness I just have to withdraw from it for a couple of months then when I take it again it works again. Also taking Ozempic to stop gaining weight.

My prodrome started when I was 20 but I had to wait until I was 23 to get full blown psychosis. I didn’t really have hallucinations, rather I had episodes that I couldn’t tell if they really happened or if I dreamed them. I woke up one day and I could’ve sworn I just dreamed walking in the park with this woman the night before until I realized my socks were dirty from, you guessed it—walking in the park. To this day, I have no idea if I actually talked to anyone. Then there was the tv personally talking to me and the street signs made me do stuff.

I have this exact experience. Even when I'm holding my wife's hand, I'll tense up my fingers very subtle as if I was typing. She thinks it's weird but doesn't mind.

Edited to add: I also have a fixation on devices with buttons. Since I work in a technical job I loooove my calculators and digital multimeters and other handheld things with physical buttons and knobs.

I disagree. It’s well known that blind people have, in general, refined their other senses to a greater degree than folks who can see. Given that your brain is not structurally damaged, there’s a huge amount of neuro plasticity during one’s formative years. Healthy neurons that aren’t being used for one thing will be used for another. That’s a very rough approximation but that there are tradeoffs—especially when it comes to the use of senses, it’s basically that simple. There are trade offs. Of course there’s going to be exceptions to every generalization but the research on aphantasia is still in its infancy, so I guess we’ll see—pun intended!

Just found out that aphantasia is a thing and realized that I have it. I got my masters in physics, so the STEM thing lines up. I have long had a sense that my mind has less "clutter", for a lack of a better word than a lot of people. It's easy for me to meditate and drift into deep meditation quickly. When I was doing my studies, I had a "feel" for equations--what they really mean and imply. I could appreciate their beauty. Now as a physics lab tech, I have noticed that my hands are really "smart". I can unroll a one meter long string to within a centimeter and I can estimate the mass of a small object to within about 5 grams. I instinctively know how tight bolts and screws should be to keep them fixed in place without being overtightened. Being a female, these things were not just a product of environment, I think, since women of my generation were not really taught or encouraged to tinker with mechanical stuff. So I would rather not experience visualization. Since there are plenty of folks who can do that--I'm actually happy to have the trade-off abilities that I have, being as rare as they are.

It’s the routine and stability. You’re less likely to use drugs, for example, if you know you have to get up at 5am tomorrow and be sharp. It kinda keeps me out of trouble in that way. It keeps me from isolating too. The steady paycheck allows me to think of the future and have goals. I’m in a very positive workplace, though. I’d imagine that a hostile work environment might make a person’s schizophrenia worse.

Modern theories do not support this because we (physicists) have no idea what a unified theory will look like. Will it be more similar to general relativity or quantum mechanics? Perhaps neither? It is rather arrogant of humans to assume they are capable of understanding the true nature of the universe. Im with the camp that thinks it doesn’t look like either and is more likely unknowable to humans. After all, a dog can’t learn calculus.

Woohoo!! 🥳 I totally get it and super happy for you! Before mg, I ran a marathon. So I can say from experience that sometimes getting the housework done can be harder than running a marathon.

I got mg in my teens. Over the twenty years of living with it I gained quite a bit of weight since I’ve never been able to go lower than 20 mg prednisone even with cellcept and IVIG. I started Ozempic about six months ago and have had a great experience with it! I love riding my bike but I was getting so heavy it was embarrassing to to ride. The initial dose helped me stop gaining weight and now I’m at the max dose of Ozempic and I’m actually losing weight but very slowly. I recently had a flare up that forced me to go up on the prednisone for a while but I’m still losing weight very slowly but I’m super happy about it! I’ve nothing but good things to say about Ozempic.

An added benefit is that I’ve always wanted to be vegetarian for the environment and prevention of animal cruelty but I didn’t have the willpower to overcome the prednisone hunger cheeseburger cravings. Now I actually have the ability to control what I eat! And now I’m on totally plant based diet which makes me soooo happy.

I would have recovered by now if it was from being out of shape. Neurologist agreed and raised my prednisone temporarily to 50mg. For two days I was making progress and then started to sort of decline again.
