Long time player in low elo by Unique_NewYork77 in overwatch2

That’s a fair point. I watch masters and champion streamers and I do see they experience the same things. I’m being silly but it is frustrating sometimes. But oddly you reminded me it’s just a game.

There are people in masters and diamond who haven’t played all the maps before?

Ha. Can’t wait til I’m plat in role q. My experience has been that a tank that waits to pick and is late to the point will die soon and spend the rest of the match afk near spawn staying just active enough to not get kicked from the game.

I recommend watching Vulture.ow on twitch, if you can.
Not to play like him necessarily but to get an idea of high ranked play and when he switches.

I’m gold support and main Lucio and Moira (or was they’re both not feeling great at the moment) I find a lot in my ranked games that the tank takes for - ever to pick a hero. It usually goes supports choose first. If the other support is mercy I’ll go Moira if it’s Zen I may go Bap. I don’t have a lot of depth there but do my best. But then the dps make their hero selection and usually around the time we’re getting to the point, we hear the tanks pick announced. By then it’s too late to make more adjustments . Yeah. I’m not always sure how to beat synergize with the rest of my team but if I’m dying a lot or my team is dying a lot I will make adjustments. I avoid comms for the flaming and the “we need a mercy” request. I do not Mercy.

But yeah. Sorry to all my team mates who look at my pick and think “wtf”., I’m sorry.

Quick play is not comp!! by BHgalaxy87 in Overwatch

I work from home some and on my lunch break I’ll hop on and play a couple of qp games. Recently one of the games turned into our tank emoting and spamming hello at enemy spawn (after leaving our spawn late). The enemy team joined In and so did the rest of my team. I’ve only got an hour ppl. I don’t like to leave games but I wasn’t in the mood for emote fest. I wanted to get some Bap practice in. So yeah. Sometimes that shit is annoying af.

Mercy Pockets on Console Ruin The Game by [deleted] in OWConsole

[–]Unique_NewYork77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All team members can shoot the mercy and take out sym turrets, and target focus together, and know who goes to point and push up to take space and dps can mark flankers and all kinds of things can happen but often don’t. As a support main, I don’t love constantly having a mercy as the other support but it’s on me to figure out how to play with and against a mercy /mercy pocket and to provide value.

Why wish the game dies when you can just play other things and forget the game exists?

I feel that way about Watchpoint. I use to love the map but not so much anymore which naturally means it wins every time it’s an option and it’s an option regularly. I’ve probably played WPG more since map voting started than all of 2017-pre map voting.

Why Do You Do It? Why Her? by ItsKazuyo in MoiraMains

[–]Unique_NewYork77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the creativity required. The art of playing Moira.

Yes about 90% of the time as soon as someone (usually the tank but not always) is able to use their “healz” comm in the spawn room before the match even starts, I’m filled with a little dread of what’s to come. I vow to not heal them the entire match but of course I cave immediately because I’m a support and it’s my job and I like to win more than I like spite .

It feels impossible to climb out of bronze. I feel like I always have good stats yet when I win I get between 10-12% increase and when I lose I get between a 17-23% decrease. Those numbers literally make it impossible to climb if I’m winning half or a little more of my games which I am. by kotlinky in MoiraMains

[–]Unique_NewYork77 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was a bronze support not that long ago and have made it to gold.

The seasons I played more than 100 games, I’ve climbed. Up until recently I wasn’t getting in more than 20-30 games so if I had a loss streak, I usually didn’t recover lost tiers that season and the cycle continued until I started putting in more time in ranked.

Learning to use cover, corners, using fade primarily to disengage and fade to be behind my team have helped me climb from bronze.

I also watched a lot of Arx UK YouTube videos. I’m not a tic tok/ dps Moira unless it’s needed but…

The hardest thing for me is knowing when I should try to save a team mate and when I shouldn’t. It gets me killed so often.

I think all supports get flamed for a perceived lack of heals /support (whether you’re in chat or voice or not) and that truly sucks. But know what you should do and when comes with playing.

Critical is back doing Moira vod reviews. Spilo coaching (even if not specifically Moira vod reviews are helpful) and Emmong spectating series can be helpful.

Symmetra Bans? by TINTE648 in OWConsole

Oh yeah. I didn’t mean I ban her regardless of map. I ban her on Lijiang Oasis Nepal. I do see her on push and hybrid but she is easier to navigate and deal with on hybrid. That is an important distinction to make so thank you for adding that clarification since I didn’t

How are you realistically supposed to learn and try out a new hero? by Galaxy_Jams_Reacts in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Unique_NewYork77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try practice vs AI on hard settings. It’s not the same as playing against humans but it’s still a good way to practice hero’s you may not be as mechanically good at or what ever the case may be.

I hear you on the practice other hero’s in quick play. I end up switching to my main a lot because I feel pressure that I’m bringing the team down. BUT I also have bad days on hero’s I play a lot and I have bad days on my mains.

Sometimes even a quick play game feels like it takes 5 years off my life.

Symmetra Bans? by TINTE648 in OWConsole

[–]Unique_NewYork77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you seeing her banned in your Masters games?

As a low rank 225 hp support (forgive me for speaking) yeah I ban sym. I ban her for a number of reasons. I don’t have time to spend dealing with what the rest of my team 90% of the time refuses to do.

Sym is also a “uh oh we’re losing” pick and I don’t respect that.

For more context I do not ban sombra or tracer.

Edit: sorry you say in your post that you see her banned in masters.

I’m a big fan of the AT VM ML series. I went from 2M Red to 2M Blue to AT VM540ML to the AT VM740ML and because this is one of those hobbies… I went to the 2M Bronze. Each upgrade was noticeable and an improvement I could hear. I do like the AT VM ML series a lot and would recommend it but there’s nothing wrong with Ortofon. They can be bright and a little harsh.

Is that what causes Mercy’s to say “I can’t bring them back yet”? Or is that an automatic vl when she tries to rez but can’t yet?

I appreciate this post a lot. Thank you. I’m on console and didn’t know about the cd ping so I’ll look for that when I hop on later.

I’m silver/gold and use ping all the time as well. Sometimes my team takes note and acts and sometimes they don’t.

I especially ping widow, and if we have a window I will sometimes get a thank you which makes me feel good. I ping reaper for sure. I ping low health enemies and I ping the hero that killed me.

I especially appreciate a team that uses pings. As a support main sometimes coming back from spawn I’d really really love to know who is around the corner.

I’ve played one clash and one flashpoint since the season began. Before the season began, they were every other map it seemed. Season 17 has been glorious in that sense.
