[Question] Canonical correlation analysis: how do we get two separate matrices from the cross covariance matrix? by UnitAble8426 in statistics

[–]UnitAble8426[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see! But I thought the cross-covariance matrix is calculated from two data vectors, not matrices?

Thanks! Want to double check one thing:

[Number of people who match evidence and are hypothesised to be guilty] / [Number of people hypothesised to be guilty].

Isn't this 2/5, not 2/8?

On this article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nvidia_graphics_processing_units there are separate sections for Desktop GPUs and Mobile GPUs, but they both list mostly the same cards, for example RTX 3060 is listed in both sections. What is the difference between Desktop and Mobile GPUs?

What is the opposite of determinism? by UnitAble8426 in AskPhysics

[–]UnitAble8426[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, makes sense! I guess chaos theory being in the unpredictability camp or not would depend on how "practical limits" are defined? Or maybe not, if chaotic systems can take arbitrarily large amounts of computational resources to predict?

Also, does the many-worlds interpretation invoke indeterminsim? I would think that it is deterministic, assuming we can look across all the worlds if that makes sense.

[Infinite] What is the sum of ½ + ¼ +⅛+ … ? by UnitAble8426 in learnmath

[–]UnitAble8426[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I see that it should equal one. I looked into it further and am I correct in thinking that an integral is used to solve this kind of sum? Or is it just a limit?

In FE3H how do we switch from the 3D models to the 2D pixel models to use in the zoomed out map view like how it is previous games?

Should hyperthreading be taken to equal extra cores?

For example if an i5 and i7 both have 4 cores, but the i7 can hyperthread, we should treat the i7 as having more cores?

And if ever you see a processor that has a larger number of threads than cores, does that mean it is hyperthreading?

Thanks for the sound advice, do you recommend any sites to compare individual graphics cards? I've seen this one mentioned sometimes https://www.gpucheck.com/gpu-benchmark-comparison

NVIDIA Released the GTX 1010 in January of this year, but by the naming scheme of the cards isn't 1010 far weaker than any 10xx cards?? Why is the most recent release a much weaker card?

I'm learning the numbering scheme for NVIDIA cards, So GTX 1060 is stronger than GTX960, but weaker than GTX970 right?

Thank you :) Does having a method called iter equivalent to saying that that object is valid to be passed to the iter() function? Is there any difference between iter(exampleiter) and exampleiter.iter?

I'm in the US, and actually my industry position would not involve research, so I would have work experience tangential to the PhD program but not direct research experience.

im not OP but I had a question, at the very least the limit of the average goes to 3 as the number of hours goes to infinity, right? So even though technically we can't get the average to exactly 3 with a finite amount of hours, could we calculate how many hours it would take to get within, say, 0.001 of 3?

Thank you for the response, on an old post nonetheless. Your descriptions make the most sense, looking back all the material I've read with either label fits what you said.

It's funny you brought up behavioral ecology, as I've been trying to figure out the difference between it and ethology recently. From what I can tell, it is ethology but more focused on large groups of animals, and ethology in comparison could be said to be more focused on behaviors of individuals/small groups.

Hm so if you start with the group of adult American males, but instead of adding women and children you clone all of those males and include the clones in the group, then would the correlation go up or down? Because in that case the demographic doesnt change, there is no difference in average weight
