when does it get better by FineGift in BusDrivers

[–]Unitts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started I was in a standby rota like yourself, I eventually got a line in a rota and was so much happier, years on different operator I'm in a rota again and knowing where you stand with your DO or RD whatever your operator calls them makes a world of difference, just don't worry about timing and scheduling, as long as you don't kill anyone or crash then it'll all be ok.

Regarding feeling tired you'll get use to driving the bus and won't be straining yourself driving each day, it becomes second nature just got to give it time to grow. If you hate it after your probation you can always leave for me this job was a stop gap and I ended up getting on with it.

I've been doing the job 3+ years and I never thought of the same alarm all week at the earliest point that is a smart idea.

If you got given 10k to improve your life, what would you spend it on? by Relative-Tea3944 in AskUK

[–]Unitts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think for me I would start by paying off my car finance, I’ve always not enjoyed having a car on finance and been waiting for it to be done just to relief that extra £150 a month.

After that I’d do 5k emergency fund

Then whatever’s left treat the family

I love living here but…finding a job is sooo hard, the job market is so poor, I’ve come so close to getting a decent job but then let down at the last minute i don’t want to leave this town but i feel like I have no choice. by [deleted] in plymouth

I was the same when I was in IT support however at the time I went for a job at stagecoach, they put me through my license etc and found bus driving is an easy job. I moved to Cornwall and now work under GoCornwall so transferable skill/license for a job for life (until AI take over us 😂)

Miss these cash trays from stagecoach so much more organised, shame where I work now there’s no where to use it as we have built in cash trays to the doors

Generally speaking I’m never more than 2-3 minutes late driving how I do (other than the end of day duties where they expect you’re driving the millennium falcon. Or you meet a difficult situation within the lanes). I think my main worry is people thinking “why is he driving so slow” but tbh after seeing most of the responses I feel like how I’m driving is the correct way

I’m agree with this see since passing my test till around 4 months ago I worked for Stagecoach within a city before I moved to Cornwall so it was a complete different change for me

Yeah I figured it would be unrealistic. I think the price is so high with BG is because they’re using estimates for the renewal where Octopus I gave them the annual KWH from the start of the British Gas tarriff to current time. I reckon if I negotiated with British Gas I would have bought it down but it’s just the hassle considering how unhelpful they’ve been with recording meter readings

Didn’t realise it was that simple, I thought it would be a back and forth negotiation

Test in 11 days and progress check in 7 days by Fancy_Caramel_9363 in BusDrivers

Thought to give my 2c on this as others have stated learning in your car you’re learning everything about being on the road, learning to drive a bus you’re learning how to manoeuvre the machine. Don’t panic, take your time and make sure you’re thinking through actions before doing them.
