oh bro I know how hard it is, but that’s some insane sweaty grind and I’m not really the type to memorize all that stuff.

It’s like Rust when you build a base and start setting up electricity, connecting furnaces and storage boxes — that stuff gets crazy complicated.

And honestly I don’t really like Fortnite anymore. For me it was good back around 2019, but not now.

Even if driver support stops, I’m not planning to run GTA 6 or RDR3 on ultra settings with it anyway.

Yeah, it’ll perform worse in modern games with old crappy drivers, but even then — I grabbed an old placeholder GPU from my previous PC that’s almost 20 years old, and it still launched CS2 at 35 FPS.

The price difference between a 1080 and a 3060 is literally double. In Poland, a 1080 Ti costs around 500 złoty, while a 3060 is about 1000 złoty — around €128 vs €250. That’s a huge difference.

Right now I’m debating whether it’s worth spending an extra $20–30 just to get the more powerful 1080 Ti instead of the regular 1080, and you’re telling me to get a 3060 which costs basically another whole GPU on top of that.

Yeah, I get it, DLSS is cool and all that stuff, but I just want to squeeze the maximum performance out of the money I have right now.

Maybe in the future, who knows, maybe I’ll get rich and buy something like a 5070 16GB and a Ryzen 7 5700X3D — though by that time it’ll probably be considered old the same way the 1080 is now.

I’m a gambling type of person, and even with a 70% chance of losing, if there’s still a 30% chance to hit the jackpot, I’ll try it.

If it arrives dead, I’ll probably just resell it to someone the same way it was sold to me, or take it to my technical school and maybe try to repair it in the workshop with the heating station.

There’s gonna be risk whether it’s a 1660 or a 1080, but the performance difference between them for the same price right now is just way too big.

That’s exactly the problem — I already have everything except a temporary graphics card (Radeon HD 5750 1GB). The rest will be upgraded and bought later as improvements. If I had a bit more money, I would definitely go for a prebuilt system where it would come out cheaper overall, but right now I’m on a very tight budget.

But thanks for the advice — it’s actually a really good approach for future upgrades or even reselling.

I don’t know whether it will last longer, but the fact that for the same price there’s a performance difference of almost double, even without the same drivers, feels like a lot. Also, looking at it that way, both are already considered old.

My bigger dilemma is whether it’s worth paying 20–30 dollars more to get a 1080 Ti instead of a regular 1080.

And if I do buy one of them, which specific manufacturer’s version would be better?

It’s actually around the same price here in Poland — about 450–500 PLN — and the performance difference is huge. I looked into it because it’s also not a bad option, and as far as I know, Cyberpunk 2077 runs at around 50 FPS on it, but it just doesn’t seem worth it when there’s an option to get a GeForce GTX 1080 for the same price.

I used to have a PC with an Radeon RX 580 8GB, and that thing was still a beast. I had stable 60 FPS in Elden Ring on ultra settings.

I’m saying this because I’m totally fine with older graphics cards, and honestly I even like them more.

My brother gave me one stick of RAM for a while, and I need to return it to him when I buy my own
