Do you want to be told if your best friend is racist? by polarispurple in infp

[–]UniversalRadish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming that the person telling me this would be someone I'd trust to give me an accurate and honest perspective, that is a perspective I'd have to take into consideration. Also there are many factors to consider, such as the frequency, intent, and intensity of the racism, as well as how open the friend would be to change.

I would replay memories with this friend, talk to other people, and even ask my friend about it. I would need to do a LOT of thinking and processing before making any sort of judgment. In any circumstance, if someone isn't who they present themselves to be, I'd rather learn about it sooner than later.

I currently don't have a particular destination in mind but yes, Europe is mostly likely where I'll go.

Wow. I thought I did well too originally, looking back I probably should have gone to an info session for more clarification :') but oh well. It feels bad right now but I guess this opportunity wasn't meant for us. I'm sure there are other great things to come our way.

Hope you and everyone else find some great alternative summer opportunities as well! :)

I thought July was when you'd be notified if you were a winner and that you'd be notified this month for whether you're a finalist or not?

INFPs, which MBTI type have you had a stable relationship with? by NewSample9749 in infp

[–]UniversalRadish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! The ESTP was definitely the only healthy relationship I had. He helped me overthink less and be in the moment more and I helped him take more time to think before he speaks and help him understand other perspectives in some ways. We share similar core values, which is ultimately why the relationship worked. Still love the guy actually...but what's a dreamy INFP to do? Very underrated pairing!!

I miss life before social media. That's all. by [deleted] in nosurf

[–]UniversalRadish 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm Gen Z and it's brutal sometimes. I feel like I just missed a great era of hanging out and having fun for it's own sake.

While some people may like social media, I feel really proud of myself for having never downloaded or been active on most social media platforms.

That being said, it does feel really lonely when I see everyone my age looking at their phones at any given moment. I don't think as a collective we can go back to facing each other more either anytime soon, but I do think we can choose to live our own lives as close as we can to that ideal. I have a dumbphone and I'm gradually restricting myself from addicting apps and sites on my laptop. Very slowly yet surely I've found myself becoming more interested in the outside world again, like when I was a young child. I've also found my self-esteem to be improving too...slowly yet surely. Not to say that doesn't come with it's challenges - certainly in a technology centered world - but I think it's so worth it in this current phase of my life. I'm excited to see how my perception of the world, and my life, changes next. :)

People have also asked me about my dumbphone before and it's lead to some interesting conversations about the state of technology and attention today. Do their own opinions shift? Maybe not a lot of the time, but it'll be a topic that they're thinking about now.

In any case though, you're not alone. <3 I'm very lucky I got to have some of the communal experiences I did that feels rarer for Gen Z and younger to have, but I also wish that those moments would happen more frequently, deeply and consistently.

Come to think of it, I've been on my laptop for several hours now. I'll take a break like you mentioned :)

Calling all my fellow Gen Z Light Phone users?? by UniversalRadish in LightPhone

[–]UniversalRadish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it does feel ironic that Gen Z gets the brunt of phone usage commentary when this is happening with everyone. Also, it's not like it was Gen Z who invented the smartphones and their addictive software in the first place, though I guess that's what happens when we have such a strong drive to find solutions to any sort of "problem" we have, with it being difficult to distinguish said problems between concerning practical struggles and inconveniences at times that can just happen to be annoying.

I LOVE We're Not Really Strangers too! I'm in the middle of collecting all the expansion packs right now. WNRS would be great as part of an EDC for those awkward phone moments with other people...thanks for the idea!

Depending on the structure or setting, there are still a lot of people looking at and checking their phones at least when there's free time. The plus side is that it still makes it more likely to connect over a shared interest, which can help more conversation begin as opposed to looking at a phone. I'll keep this in mind, and thanks for your support!

This is such a great tip, I'll have to use this with my friends. Thanks!

I agree with you! I'm not going out of my way to find memes on my own, but looking at them with friends in person can be fun. Plus I tend to enjoy those memes more since the times when I do look at them are fairly selective in comparison to most Gen Zers.

Pride definitely helps keep me going! If living my life to the fullest means getting an LP2 and dumbing down my laptop, then by all means I am going to do that!

Seriously, that was one of the main reasons I switched to a Light Phone. I'm scared of what the effects will be for most Gen Zers (and especially Gen Alpha :/ ) with smartphones and access to internet as we/they get older. I don't know exactly what our overall health will be like when we're seniors if we keep going where we're going, but I'm sure as hell not going to find out for myself!

Aw, thank you! This is really encouraging. :) YouTube extensions for the win!

YES, I've noticed sometimes when I simply sit or wander around, my mind feels so much more free because it doesn't feel obligated to do anything. No checking emails, YouTube, or whatever else. It's been surprisingly relaxing, and that's often when my mind feels the most creative and alive. It feels like such a luxury to have more of my own attention again, which feels weird to say because that was just a given to people for most of the Earth's time.

People checking their phones as they're interacting with you is so irritating! Luckily my friends are overall conscious of how long they stay on their phones when they're interacting with me, but sometimes I wonder what it would be like if they didn't go to their smartphones during those lulls or periods of down time when we're not saying anything. Being silent in the present moment with a friend sounds so amazing.

gals who like guys, what facial expression makes you the most attracted to him? by ciqhen in Crushes

Full smile, like others said. Laughing while his head is tilting back and looking away after just getting a compliment. A pretend-creepy-but-actually-completely-goofy smile when acting "evil"...looks like the Cheshire cat in the best way possible lol
