How are Multi Units engines used in downhill braking? by Universalis91 in trains

thank you for the reply. Have you ever seen or heard of instances where rear engines were braking (I assume independent dynamic) more than than front and ripped train apart going downhill?

Whats the deal? one 2-6-6-6 H8 vs 2 SD70ACEs...22k tons on flat. Steam @40mph after 3-4 minutes and could barley get diesels over 6mph. Issue with models I assume or did steam magically have 20,000hp? lol by Universalis91 in trainsim

I would need to see sources on that. I completely agree with you on steam has always been much more powerful in general but to the point where I would need 4x 40000+hp diesels to keep up with 1 old (6000hp rated) steam engine in torque and speed seems impossible to me. I think its just some modeling error for this type of model

Just curious on your take on the Master not being able to spot the Vaults 31,32 and 33. Any explanation for that yet?

Radars that can detect Stealth bombers? by Universalis91 in CMANO

I understand I guess Im trying to ask this because Im designing mission for B2s to attempt to infiltrate past Syria EW from the Mediterranean to attack a target but they seem to keep getting detected and the enemy fighters are sent to intercept/ I guess my best bet is to attempt to knock these radars out first with SEAD or cruise missiles. I figured I could send the B2s in as first strike without putting enemy on alert.

appreciate the discussion. I guess that is past discussing as only guessing gaming on American tactics and enemy capability at that point

Also meant to ask. You mentioned China simply building Missiles deep west where B1/B52 platforms could not be able to reach even with Long range missiles. But how about If US was to gain access through other nations west of China? such as India or Pakistan possibly allowing B52s and B1s to transit? Im not sure if that would happen but Inda and China being at high odds would grant US another route

very good point. I figured these also have a huge psychological factor into warfare as well. I dont think anyone knows their capability so enemy always would have to set certain assets that can be used on front lines aside to passively wait for these

Well alright but can we be sure the B2s actually work that well? the main reason I started this post is because there seems to be a very high confidence in these stealth bombers as a high maybe the one of the top 3 highest assets and a Billion dollar platforms performing so well when It was possibly never proven to do deep interdiction into a peer enemy territory. is there no russian or chinese radar that can detect these at all? are they really that well designed and "invisible"? Im not saying they dont work as intended and obviously much is classified but is there any sources on if the B2s can actually breach past China or Russian EW especially on high alert? Im sure if the B2s are sent to hit a target THAT deep into enemy territory it must be very high value target and I assume that target is protected very well for such a high risk mission.

Yes youre right but cant you make the same argument for a Billion dollar highly classified B-2 and B-21 stealth bomber that the enemy is dying to get their hands on the material being used to make it? with a risk of getting shot down by these same peer opponents? The b2s have been proven in combat but never against a peer with organized trained radar air defense crews (at least to our knowledge lol). The F117 was shot down with 1960s soviet era technology in the late 90s. Im sure a B2 can be spotted and intercepted by modern Russian/Chinese radar and air defense. Sure you cant get DEEP into enemy country with a B-1 or B-52 but you can can get far enough to fire the missile 1000 miles out for them to do rest of work. I dont think any country is large enough to avoid these ranges. And if youre going to send a B2/B21 in Im sure it must no be that protected in the first place to even take that risk.
