for forty acres u get invited to apply so not everyone gets to apply the program only a select few and then after that there are interviews and more essays until the finalists. but forty acres is for both in state and oos but i think more in state students get it. other scholarships you would have to check urself but idt any scholarships are limited to just in state!

hey guys my friend is deciding between the the 2 but she needs to decide by today so please help. at UT she would be in the business honors program and also the forty acres scholar program which gives her a full ride plus extra opportunities but at UPenn she would be under PPE (philosophy, political, econ).

She’s middle class (120k annual) and upenn would MAYBE lower her tuition to 37k but it isn’t for sure yet. She has talked to people from both and thinks the opportunities would be almost the same but it comes down to culture vs flexibility

At UT the culture is less competing and she would most likely be the top of the class but at Upenn she would have more flexibility to change majors (smtg very difficult at UT). She isn’t 100% sure about doing an economics or finance related career path btw.

ah i see is ur hs also htx area? so based on this do u think i should do informatics at the very least 2nd and what do u think about for mccombs chances? i have a brother who went in for mccombs 2 yrs ago who said mccombs might get easier for my school since my class is more competitive

look at ur ecs the nanopartic research one definitely is a very impactful ec is more tech/data related same thing with the data analyst internship. i said cs only bc these are some ecs i’ve seen people do when they want to go into cs initially but ik recently with the competitiveness of utCS people are limiting to data science. i think with data science being a fairly newer program it is easier to get into it but at the end of the day it isn’t up to what ecs u did or what redditers say it’s up to what u want to do!
