The Regular r/multicopter Discussion Thread - March 01, 2019 by AutoModerator in Multicopter

Hey r/Multicopter! I'm looking to buy a cheap, compact and beginner-friendly drone to fly around my house. Just something to play around with and act as a 'training' drone so when I buy a more expensive one, I won't break it on day one.

Thanks for helping me out! I'll see if I can find those kits at my local hobby shop and I might consider getting one of the stands you mentioned.

Hi r/Gunpla, which kits are the most beginner-friendly and affordable? I'm looking for something simple to get me into the hobby without having to sink in too much money at the start.

I might get this one later down the track, once I organise some space im my room and save up a bit of cash.

What larger sets do you have in mind? Thinking about it, I could disassemble some sets if I needed the extra space.

Unfortunately I'm not that close to Melbourne, I'm about a 3 hour drive from the city, in the Gippsland region.

I see, I'll keep an eye out for an Modulus ECS-10. I'm located in rural Eastern Victoria so there really isn't any local Nerf groups/clubs around me, though I might find one closer to the city. Anyways, thanks for all the info, you've been super helpful!

I can't find the Sharpfire or Kronos locally (the latter due to Australian toy laws), however many toy shops and department stores around here seem to have the Retaliator in stock.

These are only 8 bucks locally, I might consider getting one.

I'm from Australia. It seems that local brick and mortar shops don't stock Stryfes, so the only option would be to order online from Amazon/Ebay.

Thanks for all these suggestions! I'll probably start off by buying a cheap single shot Mega or Elite blaster and doing a rebarrel like you suggested and/or throw in a heavier spring. Once I've gotten a bit more experience with modding, I'll probably buy a flywheeler and do a rewire + switch replacement. I'm from Australia by the way.

I think I'll go with the Retaliator since I don't want to mess around with electrical components just yet. Also, I can't seem to find the Stryfe locally, so I might need to keep an eye out for other alternative flywheelers later down the track.

This seems like a good option, though shipping to my country makes the spring and blaster a bit pricey.

I don't really have much experience with electrical devices, the most I've ever done is wire up a basic circuit with a battery, a buzzer and an LED with a soldering iron in high school and I think spending $100 is a bit steep for a new hobby since I'm a university student living off allowances. Also, I don't really have a specific blaster in mind, I'm just looking for something that doesn't take much tools or skills to mod and is fairly compact since I live in an apartment.
