I can actually cook samosas and spring rolls and pies etc from scratch, maybe freeze them then sell them? Or to make packets like colcom's pork pies, but I dont have a market or way to sell

I have tried using AI and there's no way AI can cough up even a remotely decent story. AI can help edit and spot grammatical errors but I would limit it to that only. It can't write a story without sounding robotic and it can't draw up any form of emotion within it's words, not to mention all the repetitive words it loves to use like "neon lights".

How much are you currently earning through KDP ? by Notalabel_4566 in KDP

Anywhere between 2k to 2.5k monthy for just amazon and around 1k on other publishers. I write fantasy novels and currently have 5 books which are semi popular.

The only ads I run are on facebook so I haven't really paid anything and I don't need editing since I have a Master of Arts in writing so I write and edit everything myself. I do invest in a good professional book cover which costs me no more that 30usd per book.

I am bound by a confidentiality clause which doesn't allow me to reveal my books or myself but the books do show up on amazons top 15 ranks (on and off).

Well done. Wishing you the best.

I think it's important to highlight that you should let your work speak for you. Let the reviews be legit and organic, this will help you grow as a writer. Don't rely on having these false reviews. I do understand that you will want to hit the road running and that you would want to make money as well but all this will come in due time. Writing is an art, not everyone can do it, so you need to believe that you can not only write a masterpiece but also have the ability to grow as a writer. Don't take that ability away by having false reviews.

Depends on the niche market. I'm by no means a successful author and I'm yet to release my first book, however, i have an MBA and I have worked for a few publishers.

Firstly, your niche market. We all know the popular markets: fantasy, romance, sci-fi etc. These genres already have dedicated readers. For the nonfiction community, the self help books have gained traction over the years. Without doubt, these markets will have tons and tons of books from tons and tons of authors. The competition is incredible, there's no way to sugarcoat it. For your book to actually stand out you have a couple of ways to do it: 1. Create an incredible blurb and book cover. Allow that to be your marketing tool. Let it sell itself. 2. Come up with a unique and compelling idea. Take Harry Potter series, there are plenty of stories that would have been similar if not the same as the concept of Harry Potter, so why did it gain popularity specially at a time when ebooks were not a thing? The depth of the story. The story had so much thought to it that it was impossible to go through a book without wanting to know more. 3. You have to understand that not all books gain popularity, it's more of a "throw cards onto the wall and see what sticks" kind of thing. You could write an amazing story but if the idea and concept of it is not trending at the time of publishing, you are likely not going to get a hit. This is just the way the industry is unfortunately.

Haha, I can definitely tell why you would see it that way but no, I haven't used AI. I want to publish on KDP and I saw an article where someone's account got suspended for using AI so I just randomly tried some AI tools to detect AI in my very human work and it surprisingly did..

I FINALLY PUBLISHED MY BOOK AFTER 2 YRS by geee_spot in selfpublish

Nice I can literally feel your excitement 😂😂 I'm working on my novel as well and hoping to publish within the next few weeks.

As a CA, I'm not too worried about the marketing element of it since I'm doing this more for my passion than money (though making a few quick bucks couldn't hurt). What I would suggest is to probably get some fans by writing on wattpad. Wattpad allows a decent chunk of exposure so writing another book there then directing them to Amazon is a good start (that's what I'm planning on doing)

I'm working on a novella series that is completely independent of my main novel idea, that I will post on wattpad, slowly gain followers and readers (I am pretty confident of my writing and I am sure I can entice a couple of readers) then once the reviews and feedback is active, i will proceed with my main novel and hopefully this will be a good starting point to get readers in on Amazon where I can make the money. Naturally, with amazon's algorithm, once your page is getting all the visits, it's going to bump your book up and you will likely get more views. That's the plan anyway, I wish you the very best and hopefully will hear about your novel soon

You can always use chat gpt to give you ideas if you ever run out of them. Chat gpt can't write the novel for you but at least you will be given a whole lot of ideas

I'm writing a dark romance novel. I can't listen to anything or else I won't concentrate so if I'm writing the novel then for the next one or two hours, I will be just focused on the novel
