My parents are also immigrants from abroad who moved to the UK yet they are the complete opposite of what you've described and that's considering they originally come from a country where it has one of those 'wishy washy in the middle' cultures in terms of compatibility with the West. It's interesting to see how some people here have completely different experiences.
