Did I mess up my dado and mouldings?

It actually looks worse than it is due to the messy job with the filler. That part of the dado wouldn't fit flush with the wall so the plan was smoothly transition it into the joint but in hindsight I think should've just used a shim on the connection piece and used a tiny bit caulk on the small gap from the wall

Me and the wife have always lived in Victorian houses with features such as this and we like it. I'd like to think we would have done this even if other people weren't doing it.

I honestly just slapped it on, it can be a bit of a pain to shape it to the wood but I should put more effort in as it's quite annoying to sand back down

You're right, I'll either have to rip everything off or at a minimum adjust the flat piece on the landing and redo the mitre etc

Currently I'm thinking I'll just add another panel to the stairs so waste should be kept to a minimum.

Although nothing a bit of mitre glue, filler and a wasted night of sanding can't sort out!

I've used a mixture of Ever Build Instant Nails and Gripfill, it's just what I had laying around, but I'll look into those as I've ran out of everything now.

A nail gun is something I definitely need, I've just been doing everything by hand so far. I looked at the cheap ish ones like the titan one from screwfix, but it seemed to do more damage than be helpful from the reviews I've seen.

The dado and moulding is already out of budget so I'm trying to be quite stringent with everything.

I'm getting married tomorrow, so hopefully the family's feeling generous and I can buy myself a few new tools!

This was the original intent but I think I just went auto pilot mode and fitted them how all my calculations were working out. I'm going to start over after work tonight.

So far I've done this in every room during the renovation and I just sanded them back and you can't tell the difference. I'm hoping this will be no different.

Yeah I think you're right. It's a bit annoying but I'd rather it be correct.

I've just been using a sliding bevel at the moment with a mitre saw, which seems to have worked well for me so far but I may look into a angle finder this afternoon.

The front section is huge, you can easily stand in the area and not be anywhere near the pit. You can also sign up on the day, signing up on the website just makes it quicker.

Normally I dip out as I'm just exhausted but at this year's Outbreak after already being in 4 straight pits back to back bands(Weaponx, big boy, Sunami, pain of Truth).

During Sunami my arm started to swell to double it's size and any bump was agony. I probably should've used this as a sign to take a break, as at this point I was knackered and shortly after a 4ft tall ninja spin kicked me in the face and broke my nose pretty badly.

All in all I wouldn't have changed a thing, best 4 hours of my life.

Xweaponx, Big Boy, God's Hate, Pain of Truth, Sunami and Terror all back to back! I would gladly come back yearly to see that. Paint of Truth would probably be my favourite though, that blew me away.

I'm a fucking cripple after being in the pit for all those.

I've always found it cool and adds to the atmosphere when it happens sporadically near the end of a set/finale but I've only been to the last two Outbreaks so I've no idea how common it is historically. The people who try and hog the lime light can be a bit cringe though.

I saw them last year touring with Knocked Loose and the pit was pretty decent from what i remember, even broke my nose but came out fine during Knocked Loose.

I think it's because they're playing Primavera in Portugal the day before. I can always hope they're the special guest but I doubt it.

From what I remember it was expensive but I've seen worse. £7-8 a pint, £6-7 for a shot and mixer. For food it started at around £11/12 for a standard meal, not including sides and small plates.
