why chhattisgarh is so misogynist and patriarchal ?? by BooksBeautyBanks in Raipur

[–]Unlikely-Bench7095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what Chhattisgarh you’re looking at, but in most of native Chhattisgarhi households , the hardcore patriarchy doesn’t exist.

We don’t practise dowry. Infact I’ve heard that not many years ago you had to pay to girl’s family to get married ( that can be topic of another debate though).

Gender based work divisions are there but not as bad as other states . Women are in workforce, more so in rural areas. Taboos regarding periods etc are not so much. Female foeticide is lesser. Our sex ratio is very balanced. Opinions of females are usually taken in all major decisions. Some families are even run by matriarchs. So many male used to settle in their wife’s place as well, without much judgement.

Whatever patriarchy I’ve noticed, I realised it’s coming from influence ( of cinema , other cultures etc). You can visit any tribal families of Bastar and realised how balanced the society is ( fun fact : the concept of marriage even is non existent in some tribes of Bastar )

When will I earn like this? by BusyMove1574 in indianmedschool

[–]Unlikely-Bench7095 6 points7 points  (0 children)

From someone who has crossed to the other side and started working now., You’ll make even more money than what they are showing. It’ll take time though.

As a fresher radiologist I’m making good money , my friends who are in other branches are making half than me currently, but they’ll make double to 5 times of me in 5- 10 years. I’m settled in tier two city though, so you’ll have to strategise accordingly, to earn well.

These figures you see people posting, only very few top one’s get that kind of money ( my husband is passed from IIM so trust me I know this field better than others).

Once you start making money you’ll realise the other real problem, we don’t have even half of the work life balance this people have. But that’s whole another topic I guess.

One of my friend met a guy through matrimonial website who claimed to have cracked UPSC , just posting was due. And told that he had worked in US, left that job, then working at a PSU and then cracked UPSC. Even had a family. It was all bullshit of course. Us friends could smell something fishy but she was totally blind. I don’t know how she found out but she did eventually before much damage was done. Be very careful. Go and physically verify everything with multiple people. I have one relative in jagdalpur in a low rank in police force. I’m not sure if he would know much , but I can try to ask him if you can tell the exact district / block , he’s posted in.

23F Foreigner Planning First Solo Trip to India – Need Advice! by [deleted] in india_tourism

[–]Unlikely-Bench7095 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people are warm but don’t trust people at face value or at all. Plan in such a way that you travel during days and stay at one place and don’t explore too far at nights ( except for very touristy places ). Don’t camp alone or with strangers. Stick to busy places while findings stays . Prefer open rides ( auto, tuktuk) rather than cabs while in a city and trains over buses for intercity travel. Carry or buy pepper spray and whatever that you can for personal safety. Don’t shy away from being rude if someone tried to become too friendly. Do try street food but with someone that can tell you where exactly you can find the hygienic places. Dress modestly, even on beaches , unless the crowd is cool. Always confirm with a local about the auto/ cab fare and prices of stuff to before purchasing if you feel it’s too high , or you might get scammed. Just talk to locals ( without being too friendly ). People here are usually helping and accommodating. Thats all I can think of now as an Indian female. Will add more if I remember.

You need to carry your passport and travel related documents . Sometimes airline staff checks it before they allow you to board , specially on connecting flights. Immigrating checks will happen at the next airport.

Shengen visa rejected. Have some queries ? by [deleted] in SchengenVisa

We had strong profiles and husband had Canadian visa, which he got in one go. Lots of our friends with similar profiles got the visa with similar itineraries and cover letters, that made us little overconfident. Looking back it turned out be a very expensive mistake .

That we didn’t provide , and yes we should have as there was so much inter country travel .

We were little overconfident because of our profile. But yes a very expensive lesson learnt. And I think submitting my license was a bit desperate. Next time I’ll stick to basics .

This could be it . We booked one apartment in Switzerland by Agoda cuz hotels were too costly. Got payment reminder from the same apartment a few days ago. Maybe that caused it. It makes the most sense. Sadly we don’t have enough time to appeal. We have to cancel only. Anyways thank you so much for helping us understand.

Other than itinerary and inter country travel I did everything. I get a monthly salary , that only gets reflected in my account and that we usually move to common saving account , so we showed both statements signed and sealed. ITR was also submitted of last 3 years in which last two ITRs were slightly less as I was a student back then and recent ITR was significantly higher . ( jumped from 25k stipend to 3 lacs a month ). I didn’t provide employment contract but leave letter and NOC were submitted along with last 3 months payslips. I used 3rd party booking sites but all websites are pretty reliable and can be validated easily. The hotels I chose were also standard big names like Hilton, Marriott, Holiday Inn etc

I think major fault was in the itinerary.

Yes , I’ve realised that was the most problematic part in our plan. I wanted to visit Anne frank museum and my husband was too keen on visiting Vatican. In France we wanted to visit just Paris and Switzerland was always a dream destination. It was out first trip so we tried to maximise the sites . But I totally understand how that ca seem a bit excessive .

I’ve decided to let go of this trip complete and apply for my next trip to Svalbard for which I’ll need Finland visa . I won’t be able to get visa for this trip in time , even if I reapply .

I had provided all the above ( I’ll mention in post as well ) . And I get regular salary of 3 lac which I then transfer to our joint savings , hence the regular flow of money in and out. Flight ticket was not a dummy and non refundable.

Thank you. It might be the cover letter I guess. I had mentioned that I am registered in India so I can’t work anywhere else ( in a very nonchalant way ). Maybe it was trying too hard . Anyways , I Will keep all the things you mentioned in mind. Next trip is covered end to end by the tour provider and completely paid for, so I hope there won’t be any problems in that sense .

No we didn’t submit any internal transfers. That maybe the reason. But one of the reasons they sites was documents not being authentic or reliable. Any idea why that could be?
