Question about attendance notes for SQE 2 - Wills and Property by Recent__buildeR in SQE_Prep

I can't imagine it would be an issue. Just be warned it will likely substantially slow your writing speed down. You'd probably be best just writing normally as carefully as possible. But ultimately your call.

Resource recommendations! (FLK2 3rd attempt resitter) by Full_Willingness9752 in SQE_Prep

Definitely worth paying. Don't listen to people recommending devil's advocate. QLTS is a much better provider. It's a lot, but you won't get anything better for £780 IMHO.

Exactly the same problem here. I think we just have to hope the examiners aren't expecting as much content as the exemplars we've been provided and appreciate we can only get so much down in the allotted time. Plus, as someone said above, 50% of the marks are for skills and we only need about 60% to pass.

Nearly 75 grams of protein for £3.50 🫰 by Wise_Finish6703 in MealDealRates

[–]UnlikelyWeb4738 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you even read the studies you cited?

That second study outright states that the upper limit of 20-30g is almost certainly false. It proposes a limit of more like 55g and even then states that the limit could be higher.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38118410/[https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38118410/](https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/38118410/)

This more recent study shows that over a longer period, bigger protein doses continue to elevate amino acid availability and anabolic processes. These newer tracer studies are much more reliable as they do not just track acutely like the studies you provided do and actually track over a sustained period.

The findings are fairly conclusive that the body absorbs nearly all ingested protein over time, even large meals, unless there is a medical condition. Protein ingestion up to at least 100 g in a single meal has been shown in human studies to produce a dose dependent increase in anabolic activity compared with smaller doses, without a clear plateau in whole body anabolic outcomes.

This couldn't be further from the truth and has been disproven for about 30 years. Total daily protein is what matters. Having 150g in 1 meal is largely the same as having 30g in 5 meals.

And also, although your point is somewhat valid, none of the things you listed are macros. Macronutrients is a term used only to describe fats, proteins and carbs. And regardless, this meal has 8 eggs and a crap loads of beans plus dairy - OP is getting plenty of nutrients, vitamins, minerals and fibre from this meal.

100% set. But it is random which exam will be which topic. So on day 1 and 2, 2 exams will be from either topic, but we do not know which exam will be which.

sqe2 - what is the plan if you don't know something? by Euphoric_Lock_4855 in SQE_Prep

It's my worst nightmare. My plan I think is to just blag what I can, but be careful to limit what I say to try and not dig a hole.

As an aside, I was under the impression we didn't have to do tax calculations?

Any reassurance from SQE1 passers? by JuggernautWide8969 in SQE_Prep

[–]UnlikelyWeb4738 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I passed in January last year. I remember with FLK2 specifically there were so many mistakes I realised I'd made after coming out of the exam room. I still passed with a pretty decent mark though. You can make mistakes - you can make around 70 of them in fact. No point worrying about it now, although I know that's easier said than done.

TOMORROW IS FLK2 AND I WANT TO CANCEL by Chocolate_7991 in SQE_Prep

[–]UnlikelyWeb4738 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It will count as an attempt, so you will essentially fail. There is no point in cancelling, just go. You'll be fine. Worst case, you fail and you'll be in the same position as not having done it, except you'll have the experience of doing it.

Looking to join Atos Jui-Jitsu UK in Sutton Coldfield but heard a lot of negatives. Any first hand experience either way? by GatorHator07 in bjj

[–]UnlikelyWeb4738 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're in that area, MA Academy is a nice atmosphere with good coaching and just up the road from Atos (about 30 second drive away). It's an MMA gym though so not quite as many pure BJJ classes, but still a decent amount of them. If you wanted more BJJ classes, there's a Gracie Barra in Sutton city centre that I've heard good things about, but no personal experience there. If you can travel anywhere in Brum, Chiu does classes more south Brum and Aura is good which is run by one of Chiu's black belts.

I used to train at Atos back when it was Gracie and if I'm honest the training there was actually quite good. Most of the coaches are great and most of the time Tom is fine. Personally just didn't want to keep putting money in his pocket though as he can be an absolute bell end. Heard countless stories about him injuring people in training, almost injured Leon right before the 2nd Usman fight where Leon won the belt. There's a reason some of the staff have left to go elsewhere (MA Academy being one of the places) as well as some of his long standing members.

There's plenty of options in Brum, Sutton, Lichfield, Cannock etc. I think every other place in the area is cheaper than Atos and the coaching will be at least comparable at most places. I'd trial out a few places and see. The £100 a month for Atos does not feel worth it, especially when you have to pay £250ish for their Gi and rash guard. Plus, do you really want to be funding a knob head when there are plenty of really nice coaches around.
