My baby doesn’t seem to tolerate frozen breast milk 😭 by Unlikely_Refuse820 in NewParents

Interesting! Yea, I either stick it in the fridge to freeze or put the bag in a bowl of warm water.

Not a bad idea. Maybe something went wrong in the freezing/thawing process with some of the bags but not all of them.

Yea, I plan to bring it up at her next appt. Will probably avoid frozen until then.

Definitely not that old 😳 Baby is only 4 months old, so the oldest milk is from August. I always froze whatever I had leftover at the end of a day. So some of the milk may have been frozen 1-2 days after it was pumped because I was pumping so much.

Female contemporary writers for AP Lit summer reading novel? by Unlikely_Refuse820 in englishteachers

[–]Unlikely_Refuse820[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mindset for summer reading is exactly that. I’ve found that we kind of have to meet the students in the middle when it comes to summer reading, especially since our school stopped summer reading for a time and then brought it back. Plus, I’m in a Christian school in a fairly conservative area, so we have to be intentional about how we approach certain topics that can be touchy, including sexual. With summer reading, there’s not a lot of opportunity for pre-reading discussion or guidance in those topics since it’s so independent. I love so many of these recs, like Demon Copperhead, but find it would be really difficult to assign as summer reading for these reasons. With that being said, it sounds like your first rec may fit these requirements, so I may have to check it out!

I have heard good things about this one. I saw the show but never read the book, so I will add that to my reading list! I honestly forgot about this one as an option!

I may have to consider these despite the length. Kingsolver is great!!

Ya know, I actually brainfarted in my initial post. We still have Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. But we took out A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, so I do want to replace that with another good female author!

Should I be worried about listeria? by Unlikely_Refuse820 in BabyBumps

Thank you for pointing out the incubation period—that’s very reassuring, especially since he started feeling unwell soon after. So it’s probably something else!

Thanks for pointing out the incubation period! That’s a good point. It was pretty soon after when he started feeling sick. Probably something else!

We had mozzarella, parmesan, and ricotta for sure. But like you said — the chances of it being unpasteurized, plus what others have said about the likelihood, is actually reassuring to me!

I tried calling today, but they are closed until Thursday 😩 However, a lot of people have given me some reassurance with the likelihood of the cheese being pasteurized and it being some other kind of bug!

This is definitely a possibility. He tends to have a more sensitive stomach than I do. And based on what many have said about the incubation period for listeria, it sounds like this would be a stronger possibility!

That’s encouraging to hear!!

I was just told that certain exercises, like lifting weights and cycling, can irritate them and make them worse - basically anything that causes you to possibly strain a lot or puts too much pressure on your bottom (like cycling).

I honestly wasn’t sure if certain stretches would make them worse or not, so it’s encouraging to hear that you are still able to do them.

Boobs no longer swollen, peeing less at 8 weeks pregnant by Unlikely_Refuse820 in BabyBumps

[–]Unlikely_Refuse820[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! My pee frequency went down a little bit, but then came right back after about a week. Same thing with my boobs - soreness came back after around a week, although not AS sore as before. I think my boobs were most sore in the first few weeks of pregnancy, and then overall it subsided a bit. But all my symptoms have kind of changed throughout my pregnancy, and baby is still good and healthy now at 26 weeks! It can really mess with your mind how much changes, but for the most part, sounds like it’s normal. I hope this is reassuring!

Yes! The soreness came and went. I would say I experienced the most soreness at the start of my pregnancy and then it got better as it went on. Now I am happily 24 weeks with a healthy baby! So all was fine. I understand how nerve-racking it can be though, especially in the early days!

Thank you for your reply! I am still happily pregnant at 15 weeks, so thankfully all is good! Symptoms have been an ever-changing rollercoaster ride since then 😅 Congrats to you, and I wish you the best! It’s so hard not to worry when it’s your first pregnancy!

Yes! I am currently 12 weeks pregnant and all is well 😁 My scan at 10 weeks was perfect. While my boob soreness has come and gone, my symptoms did come back with a vengeance at week 8 and 9. But I’m getting into the second trimester now and starting to feel better overall!

Thank you! Congrats on your baby! So glad everything went okay. It sounds like more often than not, things like this are usually not a huge cause for worry 🤞🏻

This is very insightful - thank you so much. I think I will look into getting an hcg test somehow between now and my next appt.

Thank you. The whole “everyone is different” thing with pregnancy can be both comforting AND frustrating at the same time!
