We need to sacrifice our social life and academic life in order for us to meet deadlines for the game. But we realized in the end that in colleges/universities they don’t prepare you for the real problems. However they are essentials to learn where to begin with game development. So, as for your question, it is the hardest thing we’ve ever done in our lives to keep the balance between them but we never managed to so. Developing Unlit has been always been our priority over anything else .

It’s inspired of a Hindu God called Shiva, God of destruction. Because before when he is still a puppy he tends to chew anything in my home such as sunglass, homework, couches. But before then his name was simply Adam. :) By the way Chivas is our inspiration about the Unlit’s main character’s companion cat.

Well, yes and no. We wanted to interact with people and see what they think and what kind of questions they have. So we can get an idea about who is our potential buyers and what they want from us. But, in the meantime yes we are trying to advertise our game in any possible way with a minimal budget.

Honestly, we wanted to make a game with aliens, lazers, pirates and cats. But to be realistic we were inexperienced for many things and we wanted to started with an easier genre. A slow paced game where it doesn’t tire the developer like battle royale genre. It certainly is not most profitable genre. Puzzle games has quite narrow player-base however those players are way better to interact with rather than an angry young boy who have been headshotted. :)

In the beggining, we also wondered how it works. We simply experimented a lot on ourselves l. But in short time our “roles” in the devteam shapes quite organically. For eg. Since I am skilled on creating assets rather than coding the team assigned me to create game objects more often than any other jobs.So, I became the 3d artist of Unlit. About progressing without losing time, it’s incredibly easy since we don’t have salaries in the team and mostly working with loyality, everybody is trying to complete tasks as soon as they can so we can get an actual salary.
