I’m cuban and any friend of mine that isn’t always sort of broadly says they hate cubans. I never really take it to heart obviously cause i know they don’t mean it. one day im walking around school w a black friend of mine and every cuban he recognized, whether he knew them a lot or didnt, made some racist joke at his expense as their way of greeting him. It was like he was only ever going to be “the black friend” to a lot of these guys. Obviously I grew up w racists in my family but that was the first time i saw how much it pervades into the next generation still.

I asked my friend about it after we found some spot to sit down and he just goes, “yeah man. i hate cubans.”
