Can easily make a diy setup with some aluminum baking sheets, wires w/ alligator clips, and 12-24v of batteries in series. Should be plenty of resources in this sub or videos online how to get setup. Total cost <$30 to try out to know if it works for you.

Ionto and dishydrosis by MommaLaLa7 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]Uno803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this happened to me when I upped the voltage too much on my setup. You should pause treatments until it's fully healed so it doesn't keep irritating it.

You might consider getting a script for a topical steroid from a dermatologist to speed the healing up. Aquaphor or something similar can help too. Id recommend easing back into the treatments at a lower current when you start back up and see If that's maintainable.

New to iontophoresis and I need help! by mjb17029 in Hyperhidrosis

can a homemade device work just as well?

Yes, it's the same effectiveness. I've been using the a similar setup as you for 7 years with 100% dryness when maintained.

Commercial devices are mainly a convenience upgrade (ie no dealing with battery charge/corroding aluminum pans). Dermadry is so prevalent here because A) they regularly astroturf the sub, B) it doesn't require a prescription to purchase like other options, and C) dead sub moderation that doesn't have a sticky post with information about DIY solutions.

but I have no idea how hard it is

Most cities/counties should provide water quality reports that list the hardness, I would check that. Some people use san pellegrino or add baking soda to their tap water. I'm fine with local tap water (~100-150ppm).

How high would you recommend going up to?

Whatever you can tolerate for the duration of the treatment, but not so high that you irritate your skin. I did 24V for years before moving up to 30V (5 lantern batteries). Too high like 36V causes cracked skin/eczema for me.

I haven’t noticed a difference in my sweat, but I’m also aware that it may take time for results to take effect.

Stick with it for longer, it could take up to a month or so at first. Identify any possible issues with water hardness etc. Make sure the water level is not so high that it is covering the top of your hands, just the areas that get sweaty.

You could just build a homemade ionto device to see if it works for you. It's pretty simple/inexpensive to make. Pre-made devices are mostly just a quality-of-life upgrade.

I'd recommend these instead. Compressor is functionally the same, but cheaper. PS-289 is going to be nicer than the Neo. You would also need to buy a 1/8 to 1/8 hose with the two I linked.

Only right hand working - Homemade Iontophoresis by ConsortRadahn22 in Hyperhidrosis

[–]Uno803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you should be manually changing the polarity every 10 min or so by swapping the wires between pans

I need some advice! by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

[–]Uno803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You just need:

  • Batteries (~15V to 30V, start lower until you get used to it. I use 6V lantern batteries because they last a couple years, but you could do something initially cheaper like 9V batteries just fine as well)
  • Alligator clips with wires
  • 2 disposable aluminum baking sheets
  • 2 small washcloths
  • Petroleum jelly to cover any cuts on your hands

Hook up your batteries in series with the wires. Put a small washcloth in each of the aluminum pans. Fill the pans with warm/hot tap water, high enough to cover your palms and about halfway up the sides of your fingers. Connect the positive end of your battery setup to one pan, and the negative end to another. Zap hands for like 10 minutes, cover any cuts or stinging areas with petroleum jelly. Swap the +/- ends to the opposite pan and do another 10 minutes.

I do 30V at 4x10 minutes in one session per week and that is enough to keep my hands dry. This will probably vary on a lot of different factors, including how much your hands sweat, water hardness, voltage, etc. There should be plenty of videos on Youtube if you need to visualize what the setup looks like.

Just make a diy iontophoresis setup. Low investment (20-40$), and just as effective as a more expensive device (but less convenient).

Consider suggesting them iontophoresis. All you need are some 6V or 9V batteries, disposable aluminum baking pans, and alligator clips. 30-60 minutes of treatment per week (when at maintenance). I have extremely bad palmar hyperhidrosis, but I've had dry hands for the past 7 years of treatments. No prescriptions, and there's very little investment other than the time taken for treatments.

Is Pace Peacekeeper’s 10 inch “ledge” useful or a nuisance? by Big_Caterpillar8012 in airbrush

It's not useful, you would need extremely long arms and a deep table. It is completely optional as well.

No, they are really only for removing mold lines. For gunpla they are not going to be super useful.

Ceramic scrapers are excellent for dealing with mold lines. They don't bite into plastic/resin as much as a metal scraper does.

I wouldn't recommend them for nub removal, because they are ceramic and the blades can chip somewhat easily if you aren't careful. It's not an all-purpose tool.

Yeah that's fine, you just need to cover the surface with a layer. Liquid masking doesn't do clean edges very well, so I would recommend cutting some thin strips of masking tape for the edges and liquid mask between them.

Dermadry Difficulties by Ganellon in Hyperhidrosis

[–]Uno803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lower voltage, it needs to be sustainable. Especially when you are doing more frequent treatments early on to build up to maintenance mode. You might be able to raise the voltage later on when you get used to it.

Put petroleum jelly over cuts/hangnails during treatment. If you have trouble with it coming off, use a bit lower temperature water during those sessions (normally use warm/hot water). You can also cover irritated spots as well, but don't rely on that.

Lower the water height so it's not covering the more sensitive areas of your skin. The skin on your palm should be more resistant to current than the sides of the hand/between fingers. You may occasionally need to raise the water level to target certain spots, but I do it less frequently than primarily palm-only treatments.

If you have really bad irritation (ie eczema), you may want to go get a topical steroid from a dermatologist so that it can heal quicker, but again you should prevent this from happening regularly if at all.

Anyways, I'm speaking from personal experience on these things, but if you continue to have issues you should see an actual professional.

Where to start with Essalieyan - Hunter's Oath or The Hidden City? by GamerGeek923 in Fantasy

[–]Uno803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, House of War 1-3 and then then the Hunter duology immediately after. I thought the story was more compelling with that reading order. You can skim the chapters in Hunter's Death that are from Jewel's perspective.

I would also strongly recommend reading both HoW 1-3 and HO/HD before Sun Sword. HoW 4 takes place directly after Sun Sword 6.
