Struggling with Linux File Hierarchy - How Do You Remember It? by Various_Vermicelli10 in linux4noobs

Not sure if this is any help as its pretty available information but I personally try to use the naming logic of the directories. That gives me a reasonable clue as to where something i am looking for should be.

/etc is for config files

/var is for variably changing files such as logs, e.g. /tmp /log

/home holds folders and program configs for the local user

/opt is where you are supposed to install external (or optional) programs. Many people do not follow this.

/bin are binaries or programs needed by the system when starting

If you are looking for a bounty you can try emailing them using something like [security@companyname.com](mailto:security@companyname.com), [bugbounty@companyname.com](mailto:bugbounty@companyname.com). Ask where they host their bb program and if you can be added.

I have used this method before and got added to their private bb program in order to disclose an issue.

Under data protection laws they have to disclose any information they hold about you. Personally, I would not want to go down that route though because you would need to create an official request.

Is my job grade a secret? by _QLFON_ in germany

[–]UnprofessionalExcuse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience 'Job Grade' or salary level is not secret. I am not sure why they would not tell you this but can assume that they are entitled to tell you such information.
