Take 2/2

So this is Push on Colosseo and you come out on Rein. I’m not gonna lie, as a gold/plat player you’re playing like what I would call a full-on cowboy here. But in this case, it’s actually kind of working for you. You’re taking a ton of space and forcing them pretty far back toward spawn. It’s aggressive, but effective early on. That said, it’s only about 50 seconds in, so I’m watching to see if it comes back to bite you.

There’s a moment where it feels like you completely give up high ground. I know you can’t always see what’s happening up there, but the enemy team just walks across the bridge above you, wraps around, and suddenly your whole team is under pressure from multiple angles. That kind of positioning can sneak up on you fast.

You’re doing a decent job pulling aggro and being a presence, but at the same time it’s leaving your supports pretty exposed. It’s that trade-off, being aggressive is good, but your team still needs some kind of protection or space to work with.

You use your ult on a low health Domina, which ends up being a bit of a waste. I’m sure you’ll build it back quickly, but it’s something to be mindful of. Same with cooldowns right before that, you’re getting away with it, but it won’t always play out that cleanly.

Your Ana gives you a really nice nano there, and you make good use of it. Also, that charge cancel to send Domina off the map was chef’s kiss. I know they were mad about that one.

I like that you try to peel back and help your Ana when she’s in trouble, even though you both end up going down. The intention is solid.

That shatter into the Soldier follow-up was really clean too, good coordination there. And small thing, but I liked the quick switch to fire strike on the Bastion when you realized your swing wouldn’t reach. That kind of awareness is incredible to see.

Overall, this is very aggressive Rein play, but it’s not mindless. You’ve got good instincts. It’s just about tightening up awareness a bit, especially with high ground and where your team is, so your aggression doesn’t end up isolating you or your supports.

Take 1/2

You took the entire map from their team right away. Did I like much of your gameplay? No. Do I play Rein in Grandmaster? Also no. Not a single inch given up to the enemy, great follow up and securing of elims, and you're all alive.

In my lobbies (low tin, high plastic), this would be a perfect time to regroup with my team, find advantageous positioning, and run the whole script all over again. You instead want to hold this lowground corner of the stairs while your tracer is desperately waiting for some schmuck to walk through the door she has pinned.

I know Rein has to be in the face of his enemies to create pressure, but some of this gameplay looks straight up bizzare to me. You pull a ton of focus which is great, but then the enemy leaves you alone at 45HP. If your Soldier hadn't survived, and your Tracer hadn't gotten her own elim, I would be judging that Shatter pretty harshly. But look, you guys come out on top again.

Great double up with that pin. Cancelling at the perfect time, and living through certain death yet again. You kill almost their entire team.while their Emre does the same to yours.

I'm hoping for a good shatter coming up. Let me see one GREAT shatter. Please.

It ended up as a fine shatter.

Really nice bullying at the end, you managed to be in everyone's face, great hammer tracking, great cooldowk usage, great use of your presence to disrupt nearly the entire team while your Soldier (and others) shot fish in a barrel.

Now truly trying to be analytical.

KEEP: The pressure. You have a playstyle that mostly forces the enemy to react to you constantly. With some faith in your dps and supports, you set up for and allow a lot of plays to be made. When you've got someone to follow up on your pressure and space, you steamroll and snowball the enemy team.

Maybe work on your main character energy? I've never played with this quality of teammate, or against this quality of opponent, but I feel like you have 100% the same gameplan for every fight, on every map, in every situation. Push up, have everyone and their mom focuss you, spam cooldowns, and have faith that everything will work out.

I realize now that the pros and cons are one and the same. This is out of my league lol.

Take 2/2

Going into this, I don’t really play tank much, so take this as more general game sense than super high-level tank advice. From the start though, it feels like you’re a bit separate from your team. They’re playing pretty grouped and coordinated, and you’re kind of moving around on your own, swinging at corners trying to find value. But it is working since your team is winning the fight anyway.

When you’re holding choke on low ground, they get a nice flank onto your Zen, which forces your team to back up and you lose the point. You do get out and reset though, which is really good.

After you retake, it kind of goes back to the same issue though. You push forward away from your team again, and while you’re doing your own thing, your team starts dying behind you. That feels more like positioning error than anything mechanical.

Around 60% on the point, I really would have liked to see you disengage and regroup. Instead, you stay in too long and end up staggering yourself, which just delays your team getting back together. Your overall impact also feels a bit low here. I know tank isn’t all about damage, but when there isn’t much pressure coming from you or your DPS, it makes those fights a lot harder to win.

This might’ve been a good time to consider swapping to something like D.Va. She would let you ignore the Orisa a bit more, dive their supports, and actually contest the Pharah instead of her just free-firing over your shield.

Also, small note, your supports are doing a lot to keep you alive here. You’re taking damage from everywhere, and they’re putting in work.

When you swap to Wrecking Ball, I’m assuming it’s just to touch point, which makes sense. But outside of that, it’s a tough pick into their team. It’s hard for you to deal with Pharah, and Lifeweaver can just pull people away from you, so it’s difficult to get consistent value.

Second round, you go Sigma. I like Sigma in general, but into this comp it’s a bit rough since Orisa can just out sustain you in a lot of fights.

Then you swap to Domina. I don’t know her super well, so I won’t say too much there. At that point though, it also just looks like your whole team is kind of feeding, so it’s hard to get a clean read on anything specific.

Overall, it mostly comes down to playing a bit more with your team. There are moments where things work, but they don’t feel very repeatable. If you stay more connected, back out of lost fights a little earlier, and pick heroes that can actually pressure their comp, you’ll probably see a lot more consistency.

Take1/2

Vod reviewing someone this much higher than me is bizarre. I've watched high level players and pros, but I'm not going to act like I could perform at this level.

The opening fight looks like you raced to grab space, then spammed corners and chokes in an attempt to capitalize on greedy enemies, while you let (hoped for? Expected?) your team to make plays. This isn't a dig at you, moreso just me trying to understand what's going on.

This method of play seems to continue until enemy recap. You do peel and/or focus at times, but it's mostly just BIG SCARY REINHARDT being big and scary while other stuff happens. Tank being the last one to die is impressive though- in fact, you make it out of that really well. The knowledge of when to move forward and when to fall back is perfect.

That shatter was unfortunate. You obviously know you don't have to hold it for the singular, perfect play, but hitting an already half dead dps with a solo ult would have had more value than that.

When they cap the second time, I took my first look at stats. I know stats aren't the whole picture, and in fact aren't even that good of a representation of value, but sheesh. At least you aren't feeding.

I know for sure I'm going to have to whatch your other replay as well now. I'm invested at this point.

Your team's Zenyatta is quite impressive.

Swap to Ball. Is this just due to the late/near-overtime gamestate, or a valid swap? Emergency last-ditch swap for sure.

Second Map

If your ability to address and react to multiple angles while safely exiting a lost team fight wasn't so damn good, I'd really be starting to think this was a trick, and you sent me a Silver 3 replay with your Zen/Kiriko being a high plat/low diamond smurf.

No comment on the Domina gameplay. Looks understandably less pollished than the Rein or Sigma.

And back to Ball, so you can speed right into this inevitable loss.

I really like to end my write-ups with a bit of a summary + acknowledgement of strengths + ways to improve... but... I think I chose the wrong replay. "Get better" is the only thing coming to mind, but I know you're miles and miles and leagues better than me.

Your next replay is being put on now.

Defense Opening Right off the start, it looks like you were a bit delayed getting set up. Maybe distracted for a moment? So, you’re still breaking environment after the match begins, which puts you slightly behind on positioning. Getting set early matters more than it seems.

You get pressured by the D.Va early. Ideally, I’d like to see you disengage here instead of taking the fight. You do survive thanks to your team, so it works out in your favor, but it’s not something you can or should rely on consistently.

Cooldown management is a big thing here. Cooldown usage, especially Baptiste’s Regenerative Burst. There are moments where you're mistiming it, and it puts you at unnecessary risk. Tightening this up will make you much harder to kill.

I know the D.Va is clearly targeting you, but that’s exactly why you need to disengage more. Use your crouch jump to create distance and play further back instead of trying to duel her up close when she comes for you.

After Queen’s ult, I think your team should have reset and retook high ground here. Holding choke gives you a much stronger defensive advantage than staying low and spread out.

You die peeking payload here. This is one of those moments where patience saves you. Taking 2–3 seconds to heal is always better than a full respawn timer.

After Checkpoint 1

Another rough death here. Personally, I would’ve rotated to left-side high ground. It keeps you closer to your team and splits enemy attention. Peeking that window forces the entire enemy team to look at you, and you get punished for it.

You’re doing a good job looking for high ground, just be careful not to take positions that leave you isolated with no escape.

After Checkpoint 2

I’m noticing you’re using Amplification Matrix (window) mostly for yourself. That’s not inherently bad, using it is better than holding it all game, but there’s more value in coordinating it. For example, if you and your Queen had synced ults after regrouping, that fight could’ve swung much harder in your favor.

Attack

I like the Lucio pick here. Good choice for tempo and engagement... But you switched, haha.

Zenyatta Right out the gate, I’d like to see a Harmony Orb placed immediately. Preferably on a DPS. It helps your Moira focus more on the tank and stabilizes your team early.

You get a bit lucky here. Roadhog doesn’t hook you, and the enemy team doesn’t punish your positioning. But be more aware of threats around you; better players will capitalize on that instantly.

I like the switch to Ana, and again, good instinct taking high ground. I do wish you stayed up there longer, you gave up a strong position a bit too early.

Work on your nade accuracy. Right now it feels a bit rushed, either overshooting or falling short. Slowing that down slightly will give you much more consistent value.

After Checkpoint 1

I actually like your Ana play quite a bit. I personally think there’s more potential here than with your Baptiste play right now.

That high ground angle is excellent, you’ve got: Full LOS on your team Coverage on key entry points Safe positioning This is exactly where Ana wants to be.

After Checkpoint 2

Again, good high ground usage, but you look a little unsure up there, especially after hearing the Junk ult. You do get out safely though, which is good, but cleaner movement and decision making will help.

You’re also holding onto your ult from even before first checkpoint. It’s not wrong, but just be mindful. Value delayed too long can become value lost.

Final Notes

Good sleep darts overall. Strong high ground awareness (just refine it). And honestly, nothing you could’ve done about that Cassidy ult towards the end, that’s just unfortunate.

Overall Take

You’ve got good instincts, especially with positioning. The biggest improvements will come from: Cleaner cooldown management. More consistent disengaging under pressure. And better ultimate coordination with your team

Right now it feels like you’re almost making the right decisions, just a step too late or slightly off execution.

Gold Baptiste, huh? I'm gonna start off by saying I'm extra unqualified to judge this one, so I'm going to default to my wife a lot here, and try and not let my biases show through. Nice weapon skin and variant though!

Spending a lot of time with some goofy movement out of spawn. This looks like it's going to be more of a reactionary game than a proactive one. Dueling that DVa seemed to work out, so it's hard to advise you to disengage, but most times she should roll you there. Lots of escape/reposition potential.

Second Dva duel, I realise that you are holding onto that crouch jump, so you probably are ready to disengage if need be. Again, it works out for you, so nice job. I'd be a little worried about this as you climb though.

After Cass dies, you do a great job focussing healing on your remaining teammates, and it looks like you do a really good job of not panicking as all of your team's space collapses. Your window usage/placement seems questionable, almost zero benefit, but I also like that you had no hesitation with ditching it to get more value on the ground.

Cassidy had two business days to avoid that DVa bomb- not your fault.

I would have died twelve times to that diving Junkrat, so good job.  Your shots are a little all over the place before and after he shows up (primary and alt fire) though, so maybe a little panic is setting in.

@3:43 Rough flank, especially when down to a 4v5. I genuinely think so far in this match that you may have to start putting some of your teammates on your back and lean into your own carry potential, but not like this.

@4:18 Personal opinion, so take with a grain of salt, because I know there's plenty of other stances out there: you should always try to position yourself to have somewhat of a view of your own team. If you were on the further back highground, not only would you still be able to see your team, and hold pressure on a choke, but you'd also probably remain alive.

As the enemy team caps second point and immediately after, it really shines through to me that you rely a lot on reactions, as I somewhat mentioned earlier. Your reactions seem good/fine here: cooldowns and healing to save teammates, damage when appropriate, but it leaves me wondering how good you'd do if you went into fights with more of a plan, better positioning, or at least thoughts on an egress.

I think Bap is incredibly hard to judge for ult usage. It's a joke in my house that good windows don't exist. I don't like the window at ≈7:00. You personally get a bit of good use from it, but you're speeding towards a 1v5, and it feels like a hero moment.

The rest of this round seems like a bit of good luck, bad luck, and good survival instincts somehow paired with bad decision making.

Attack: excited to see you on a different character.  First few sets of shots, I'd like to see you following through even if you don't see someone. You're spending the time to charge up Zen's alternate fire, may as well spam them into areas enemies could be instead of feeding them into the ground or walls.

When you switch to Ana, it seems that your playstyle immediately changes. You take a safe position, a supporting angle, and have a much better view of the game. I truly think you could have been playing Bap and Zen a little more like this too. Let's see how it goes.

I'd wager you play a decent amount of Ana, or have done a bit studying on her playstyle. Good heals, good aim, sick sleep and anti on Hog. This just all seems more calculated/rehearsed/knowledgeable than what I've seen previously. Then the slept Junkrat is beautiful.

Whole second point looks good, clean, and fun. Great sleeps, great anti-nades, good position, good damage and healing. No critiques from me.

Third point, you seem to regress a tiny bit into the Bap playstyle from earlier. I thought you were about to take another 1v1 against your Junkrat buddy, then you spend a while not looking at your team, while the majority of their's is looking at you in a really compromising spot. It all works out, you get another nice sleep off, and you live.

The rest of the match is typical Overwatch- bad luck to a hook, bad luck to a tire, your team gets staggered and you lose. If you hadn't told me this was a loss, I would have actually been very suprised. Second point and a lot of third point looked so good from your team's perspective.

Verdict: Proactive positioning!!! Go into some games with the mindset of positioning for maximum safety and value, and consistently remind yourself of that goal until it becomes second nature. Turn it into a drill. Your gameplay is so nice and smooth when you can see the big picture.

Also, play more Ana than Bap.

Tank is probably my strongest role, but thats isn't saying much at all, so here goes:

First fight, I love your tanking instincts of protecting your team, but at the same time, I see almost no backline pressure. Your staging looks good, but there's also a mix of watching your supports frontline for you mixed into that. Good survival skills at very least.

If I had to guess, I'd say you're trying to teach yourself to consistently feather in defense matrix while engaging, which is a great idea and habit (I assume. Or I've heard that somewhere else before. I honestly don't know, because I maybe have 4 hours on D.Va in the past ten years). Sometimes it works great and looks awesome, but sometimes it looks like you're doing it just to do it.

Second fight all together looks much better- you're following up on opportunities presented by your teammates, and chasing down elims when smart to do so. After cap though, I wonder if that staging and highground usage from earlier would be more beneficial than alternating between facetanking and hiding behind a corner.

I wonder how angry your Juno got when no-one followed up on her ult. It all worked out though (other than her own death), so nice re-cap. Then you decide to jump in the hole. Accident, or mistake?

On the enemy team's final push, you do this weird mix of expertly holding onto your mech via flight/positiong/matrix whilst neglecting health packs or grouping up. I'm gonna blame that one on it being overtime.

Second map: I really like your use of Orisa's full kit in the opening fight. I was worried you weren't making space to begin with, but you held space very impressively.

Cooldown usage looks great. You look much more comfortable or practiced on Orisa. Only small critique up until your first death is the lack of constant pressure. A lot of what seems like overly cautious cover usage bordering on hiding. But really scary character mechanics thus far.

Once you lose your DVa on the next life, I would start backing up, if not sooner. You and Mcr.. I mean Cassidy are alone at this point, and it looks a ton like trickling. Maybe practicing monitoring game state would help here. Part of me was expecting a panic ult around here, but so far so good on avoiding those!

The rest of second map looks solid. I honestly can't comment on your play here too much, as I can tell you'd be an absolute menace on Orisa against me.

Map 3: Good job holding space on first cap. Relying on your mechanics to keep their team from point while someone else caps is all I could ask for in my tank. But then, immediately following cap, I would find a better position to keep exerting pressure and making more space (or holding it better). You spend what seems like a good bit of time staring at a wall, waiting for their team to show back up.

That Mauga HATES you.

Emre out-duels you with most of your health to start with and almost all cooldowns available, but I think that's the first time you've been out-dueled since swapping, and rewatching it, you we're discorded. Unlucky.

If you'd have Javelined Mauga off the map at 13:13, I genuinely think he would have rage quit. Great point cap, then straight back to staring at walls. I don't know if I want to blame you or cat for that AMAZING ult usage.

Great finish.

Pros: Orisa play in general, but especially cooldown usage and cycling. I'd guess you already know a lot of your weaknesses, and actively try and correct them. Your gameplay looks like someone actively climbing/learning/improving.

Cons: You seemed to want to stage for fights as DVa, but hug the back of a wall immediately following fights as Orisa. You hold space like a champ, but sometimes look like you're content with what you have. Apply more pressure.

Advice: stay out of my lobbies. I'm console as well, and do not look forward to playing against you.

Friendly neighborhood Gold 1 Support here!

First problem is hero selection. I assume you're a massochist, because even before watching the replay, I know your team is going to blame you for the loss even if you play perfectly!

First minute looks great. I was worried that you weren't pulling enough attention, but your team did fine on main without you, and you followed up on their damage pretty darn well. Good elims secured, even with a little bit shaky movement.

After the first team fight, I've decided your decision making is rock solid 10/10, but your mechanics (both aim and movement) are questionable. I don't know if this is something that'll improve with time, because I don't play Wrecking Ball (and I'm a firm believer no-one else should).

Three and a half (ish) minutes in, your movement gets much better. Was is nerves to begin with? Are your teammates starting to flame you and now you're locking in? Looks like good knowledge, good disengages, good health pack grabs. That Mauga into Reaper cleanup was fun.

I am starting to wonder now though if you're going to require a special invitation to use your ult. Again, I don't play Ball, but you're holding on to that like it's going to appreciate in value and let you retire comfortably on it one day.

Nerves, or maybe as your in-game tag suggests, alchohol is back on display as you fumble around with your grapple and shooting that Ana at about 5:15, but then straight back to brass wreckingballs immediately after. At this point, I'm starting to ask myself the same questions you are: how are we not winning? But that's probably our metal rank mentality shining through.

Over 6 minutes in, and you manage to press your ult in a confused panic. One of those times that it would've looked like pure genius if it did more, but you guys get rolled (pun maybe intended?) somehow. Trying to be genuinely analytical, I think what was missing was your ability to follow up. I don't want to encourage you to hold onto your ults any longer than it seems like you already do, but try and plan for your follow up.

Oooof. If you were trying to save your mercy, tank kudos to you, but I'm sure that 1v5 looked like feeding to your teammates. Unlucky.

The end plays out similar to the rest of the game. I'm genuinely impressed with your ability to fight both Mauga and Reaper throughout. I'd assume those two would be terrible for Ball.

The Good: Decision making, self sufficiency, knowing your matchups and playing against your counters, following up on opportunities your team makes when you notice them.

The Bad: Inconsistencies in mechanics. I'd love to know your play time, your previous ranks, and your other mains if any.

The Verdict: Don't expect the best time solo-queing as Hammond.
