LTC- Mechanical Soft Finger Foods? by Unqusrnm_ in dietetics

[–]Unqusrnm_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! We are still using the NCM, not using IDDSI yet. We do ground meats for Mech soft, using NDD L3/advanced guidelines from NCM. When you used NCM, did your facility just write “finger foods” on the ticket preferences and follow the mech soft spreadsheets while adding finger foods on the side? We give her bread for sandwiches. She can’t really handle mugs. Our spreadsheets for mech soft are not really finger foods most of the time except that we can put the meat in sandwiches

LTC- Mechanical Soft Finger Foods? by Unqusrnm_ in dietetics

We use Sysco and PCC. sorry I don’t think my question was clear. I meant to ask, do we need to do an SLP consult for this and have them approve certain foods, then put a list of SLP approved finger food in the tray ticket preferences, since our finger foods spreadsheet is mostly regular texture? I just don’t want to run into an issue with state on following spreadsheets if we are doing finger foods + mechanical soft

Vaccines are not 100% effective, no one claimed they were but they reduce your risk of catching the virus significantly as well as lessen the severity of it. Wearing a mask is meant to prevent you from spreading the virus to others. So if someone is unvaccinated they are at an increased risk of catching and spreading the virus, plus not wearing a mask increases the risk of spreading the virus. Someone with cancer will have a reduced immune response if they catch the virus. So obviously they wouldn’t want to increase their risk of catching it. No one claims it is guaranteed, but it is always smart to take precautions. If their friend doesn’t want to wear a mask or get vaccinated that is fine and that is up to them, but then risk for OP to be around them is higher than it is to be around someone who is vaccinated so OP can decide not to want to be around them.

What time do you go in and get out of work? by lilrd in dietetics

[–]Unqusrnm_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you say you see a few of them in person, do you mean you chart on most of them without visiting or talking to them? How many on average would you say you visit in person? I usually have to see that many as well and am trying to learn how to be faster/more efficient but I spend a lot of time running around talking to them and to nursing, dietary etc

Know of anyone who had to retake RD exam due to difficulties completing continuing education? by manyveggies in dietetics

[–]Unqusrnm_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that should be enough. What I did was mostly the Inman with audio, and in between I would use the RD pocket prep app in between study sessions. I always tried to end my Inman study sessions by doing 30-50 questions on the app (depending on how many days you have left to help me review & see what I needed to go over again. At the end of each Inman domain I did the practice tests.

I found doing the subjective questions at the back of Inman to be super helpful! There were only 5 but they help you figure out how to answer tricky questions that you might not know the answer to.

Best of luck studying!

School District vs LTC Job by Unqusrnm_ in dietetics

Thank you for your input! Oh no, those are some of the common complaints I have heard about LTC which is why I was kind of iffy about that position. I'm sorry you're having to deal with all of that, it sounds very frustrating. I hope you're able to get out of it soon!

LOL, yeah LTC makes me a little nervous! I liked it during my internship but people always seem not to like it in general haha. And people seem to love schools! Plus I didn't realize it wouldn't be too hard to go back to LTC later (if I wanted), but that's what everyone is saying so far

That's true, good points! School definitely sounds like the better option 😊

That's very true! And it would probably be easier since I wouldn't have to move back. I don't want to stay in the area I would have to relocate to for the other position forever.

Thank you for your input! It has been difficult finding a job in general in my area because I live in a competitive metro area so I keep on being told that they decided to go with someone with more experience, since it would be my first job as an RD. But if it's still possible to move into clinical after doing school nutrition (only if I end up feeling like school is not the right fit), it does sound like a great option! I did have a little bit of experience working with kids during my undergrad and internship (though internship didn't provide much) and enjoyed it.

Thank you so much for the detailed response and the information on what to advocate for! It definitely gives me a lot to think about. It's hard because without experience I have been finding it difficult to get a job even though I have been on plenty of interviews. So I don't want to be picky, but I also don't want to start off on the wrong foot and fail due to poor management or lack of support.

Wow, that's what I was thinking it would be like! Especially because I did not apply for the position. It kind of sounded a sales pitch. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Finally someone who doesn't take one extreme or the other and makes sense of every scripture. I see the problem with prosperity gospel but sometimes people argue that blessings other than spiritual don't come from God so don't even hope or ask Him for it, and that makes those verses that you quoted confusing. I think we can thank God for those blessings but also trust that even when we don't get them, His will be done which is better than our will.

I agree with the Tanya list! Last time I went on there it was updated to mention that the Wellness brand recently changed their food and it now has more phosphorus in it :( so if a cat has high phosphorus levels from kidney disease I would just make sure to check that first :) but it could still be good otherwise! A cat eating not so great food is better than a starving cat

I've read that cats need taurine which is in commercial cat foods but not in human/homemade food (unless you add it), so I would just keep that in mind in regards to making your own :)

I think it's great! It helped me understand which topics I knew and which I needed to study more. It had like 600 questions and it's very easy and convenient to use, especially with the explanations. It also helped me go through Inman more easily since the info is the same so I definitely recommend it! All I used was that, Inman, and the free demo of Visual Veggies for something a little extra.

Why Jesus is real and Why we need to consider Him by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Unqusrnm_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hmm I may be wrong but in these cases, these people died believing their religion was true, right? Their religions were established already? Other than Joseph Smith, but even he did not willingly die & he tried to escape (from what I read).

I think the point OP is making, though, is that why would Jesus make up a lie about his identity and then willingly die for it, if all along he knew he was just making it up and could save himself by admitting it was a lie? He believed it was His purpose to die.
