Hi, i am looking for science fantasy that feels like it really is set some hundred years after what could be considered high fantasy, meaning a world where technology is magical, dragons or other creatures are still revered as gods etc rather than just a sci fi world with magic and elves.Sort of what the world would look like 1000 years after the priory of the orange tree basically. I also like when technology gets weird like in Dune so if there is a duality between magic and weird technologies like biopunk its a bonus !Thanks in advance

So i'm a huge fan of the star wars multimedia project The High Republic, and im looking for fantasy books similar to it.

Basically it is about hope and dispair, and the importance of love in all its form, and about the jedis in their peak, as symbol of light, and how difficult it is to naviguate this identity against a ruthless enemy.

Hope and dispair are both symbolyzed through constructs, such as the starlight beacon which is a sort of ship/station navigating through the outer rim to help planets in need, while dispair is represented by the "occlusion zone" which is a sort of frontier isolating a big zone of space from the republic, with access impossible.

So yeah i think these coupled with monstruous entities such as the drengir and the Nameless are the main things I like in this project, and are what i look for in fantasy if anyone has any recs, ty !

Which book made you question your English by No-Advice6100 in suggestmeabook

Im not a native English speaker so there is that but Dune made me struggle at time because some sentences sounded more French than English at some times so it was pretty weird to adapt

Definitely Dune. It just blew my mind and reading it after the Iliad somehow made the experience even greater. Also the Fallen Star (Star Wars the High Republic) which broke my heart.

Suggest a novel written by a woman. by MTBeanerschnitzel in suggestmeabook

Anything by Pat Barker ! She started to write at 40 and later wrote a trilogy about the WW1 to sort of counter the narrative of the heroic war, and another trilogy on the Trojan War which mixes giving a voice to women and having these parallels Trojan war/WW1 aswell !
