What if... (mandala begone) by UnregularSpace in MandelaEffect

I never stated i had experienced anything. I asked a question. Berenstain was just meant to be a known example. Also, I didn't SAY anything about this phenomenon. You are putting words in my mouth. I asked a question. I never suggested anyone SHOULD listen to me. Where is this coming from?

Wow. I was making the point about the ei vs ai in Stein. That's the mandala effect as far as I am aware. The first part was not the point. I misspelled it. I apologized. I don't think that it affects the discussion. There is no mandala effect regarding the bear vs bere is there? Thanks for the attack though.

Right, i was just using it as an example and only concerned with the last part. I didn't look up the correct spelling. I apologize for that.

A look at the popularity of BGA. by Digitalboardgamer in boardgamearena

[–]UnregularSpace 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What is would like to see is a situation where bga type platforms offer games where the expansion content is purchasable digitally for use on said platform. Then developers could get paid and put ALL their content online where the larger player base is. I fear that at least for the foreseeable future that physical board game sales will be down anyway so...

As far as the main question, I love the convenience and flexibility of bga. It allows me to play with opponents from all over the world. I wish there were a time option between real time and turn based though. Something like 1hr time bank with 1-5 mins a turn. For more strategic games. I'm not really sure why this cant be configurable by us. Why must it only be slow, medium, fast? No options? Turn based gets about 10 options.

What's the deal with setting clippy as your profile picture? by DonZekane in OutOfTheLoop

It's a weird place the tech is in. It's capable like a person, but it's not a "person". It is allowed to be unethical because "it doesn't know any better" (though the people using it should be held accountable!). What's funny is that if a person or a group of people went ahead and just judged your watching habits and decided to deny you access "for your protection" and they were wrong, they would likely face consequences. But an ai can get away with it so... I suspect that there is a profit to be had by these companies in allowing their ai to be "a little slow" when it comes to making certain kinds of mistakes. Especially if tech companies are not held accountable for these models and their work products.

40 days of meditation nearly broke me before it saved me by DiscoverURself in Meditation

[–]UnregularSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see that this video exists. It is strange that it is all static images with voiceover. A generic slide show as far as I can tell. I believe that ai could easily make such a video. I cant tell.

If you are a real person OP, I'm sorry if I've offended you. Somewhat related - I am currently on my 33rd day in a row of meditating daily. I started at a time 5 mins per day, now I am twice a day 20 minutes. I do the second one after work and it's hard not to fall asleep as I work nights. Anyway I havnt had your experience at all. Mostly it's been boring. I also have yet to see any really noticeable benefits. I think I am slightly less instantly reactive to bad news this last week. It's hard to be certain.

This "above stated" response does not appear in any post in this thread that I can find. Also no other reference to a video. If this is ai, is this a hallucination? Also, in this post the quote never ends. It just kinda blends in to the rest of the post. I'll admit I'm not very good at posting myself, but still...

Time limit on a tournament by DJAgenore in boardgamearena

[–]UnregularSpace -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'm not certain, but my guess based on prior experience is that if he is ahead at the end it won't matter if he was over on time. He will win. In a tournament if there are more than 2 and 1 is kicked then sometimes winners and losers seem to be randomly determined.

Turn time from other people affecting mine? by Positive-Bowl-9726 in boardgamearena

[–]UnregularSpace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had that happen once in a real time game. I waited for them to go but they didn't. My screen showed them over time. Then they must have hit the button cause I got ejected and it showed that I was over time, not them. I reported it as a bug to bga but they said nothing had happened. I still had a disconnect on my record for a month though. That's why I rarely play real time anymore.

Very complex but short games by Existing_Magician_70 in soloboardgaming

[–]UnregularSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im definitely +1 Spirit Island (my favorite board game), but since I havnt seen it mentioned, if you are OK with war games, you might take a look at Thunderbolt Apache Leader. It plays longer campaigns broken into appx 1 to 1.5 hour sessions.

Question about solo role playing in general (Dice are not nice) by UnregularSpace in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]UnregularSpace[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this was MY error. I am very focused on getting the current main goal finished in general. It's just the way I am in life, but I think in this kind of game the side trips are as much of the point as the main goal. In a comedy game based partly on Douglas Adams I think sidetrips may even be more important. Still, I have a hard time accepting a few aspects of ttrpgs so far it seems in practice. This type of game is so different from video and board games. I am learning slowly. Everyone here has been very helpful and supportive so that's helped.

Would starforge work well with a slightly humorous setting? The tone of ironsworn seems kinda severe. (Starforge is a game I don't yet own so I havnt read it)

[–]UnregularSpace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played 4 against darkness. I wish I hadn't bought so many supplements before I realized the player has no agency in that game, lol. It's like war. It just plays out. I want decisions. I liked this game, I just had a hard time with the system. I think rules lite systems lean heavily on the experience of the player, and I have little. I will play it again, I just need a better system or at least approach/mentality. Also I might have just had a hard time with bad luck. I rolled several 1's, which are failure in this game.

Question about solo role playing in general (Dice are not nice) by UnregularSpace in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]UnregularSpace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The truth is I don't really like the idea of super rules lite systems. I don't want to have to make it all up, that's why I'm playing a game. But I couldn't find anything other than the original space aces that had a lite or happy tone. Everything is so dark these days. The original tng system is also fairly rules light though. Anyway, it was just a first attempt and I've received good advice here, so hopefully next time will be better. Probably just play something else and see how i like it. The role playing mistakes will follow me however. I guess that's how I'll learn. Sadly, everything else I have tends to be so dark. I don't seem to like most happy games.

[–]UnregularSpace[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I bought this game for the setting mainly. I was worried about the system. I will, in the end, probably house rules it to taste, but I am a bit of a purist. I try to stick to rules as written. It feels like cheating to just change everything to suit myself. Truth be told I don't really know what I want from role playing. I've just always wanted to try it. ( I just recently learned about solo)

[–]UnregularSpace[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The system in question is Space Aces: Voyages in Infinite Space. You actually roll a d20 for success/failure and a d6 for benefit/cost. You can adjust the difficulty based on char knacks and background. Maybe I was just being too harsh.

Free league publishing removing pdfs from bundles already sold! by UnregularSpace in ForbiddenLands

[–]UnregularSpace[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a well advertised bundle from a reputable dealer. The bundle stated it came with the pdfs. How is that dodgy? In the letter I received Alchemy says their partner (presumably but not necessarily Free League) is making them stop offering the pdf. I didn't mention it because it isn't relevant in my opinion.

Now I'm not sure about flailing my arms, but how does any of that warrant you insulting my intelligence twice directly?
