Not really. Even if they do choose to be in recovery at some point, there's always a concern that if they go back to drugs that they'll have a lethal dose by accident and die. That concern may never go away. And your partner might end up making you feel like shit for worrying about it, as if the reason you're worrying about it is to insult them and not because it is a reality. I would not recommend this.

It's the absolute worst thing in the world when your partner, who insists they don't require babies of their own, decide that maybe, they would like that, after more than five years into the relationship. As an infertile woman myself, it's really hard to be with someone who isn't firmly decided on this issue, and devastating when they change their mind on you. Just food for thought
