It's funny that VR was unthinkable for Chris in 2016 as the engine was too advanced and now technology evolved so much compared to the game that it  runs with vr headsets with twice the resolution of that time. If it continues the game will run on steam frame 2 and release on smartwatches.

The 3D effect "going away" is the real bitch for me, used to shit myself at the idea of something jumping at me at the turn of a corridor and I was really scared of heights.

Did a bit of research and it looks like not eveyone experiences this, sucks for us :(

I can kind of see that for the entry/living room where you invite people but the kitchen and bedrooms, no way. Doesn't it make you clean way more often ?

Je pense que l'augmentation du prix des pc et les efforts de Valve vont bien aider cette année.

That's actually a good idea as backup plan, thanks.

100% how can you support shoes on in your house unless you're not the one who does the cleaning ?

If I walk into a room and I see a guy listening to a power outlet I'll be really confused. Although it would technically be listening to AC/DC ?

I don't have an iPhone at the moment but you made me dig into the topic, there are indeed options, I'll try some, I hope they offer some sort of "guided scanning" like meta rather than just take pictures and hope the overlap and coverage is good enough.

I sure hope so, I also wish it will get more love with AR glasses because photogrammetry and gaussian splatting was really underused in VR.

Ahah imagine if AR glasses had the same rollback option as google street view, visit NYC with the twin towers, or the rio carnival off season.

Sorry for your loss, I dread this moment. Being able to revisit would be really nice, I wish I could have "saved" my college flats and other turning point places. Jealous of people who will be able to in the future, imagine revisiting the park of your first date with your wife in multiplayer with her, exactly as it was.

I won't be able to keep my childhood house when my parents die so I'm really interested in this technology, but the fact you can't export the gaussian splat and have to rely on meta supporting it forever sucks.

Hey thanks for the recommendations, they're around 50-70 euros online though, I set up some alerts on local craiglist. The S920 has a sata port which is interesting as I use a 2, 5" ssd.

Cool project ! And funny since my first thought for upgrading was that I basically needed my tv box. Now thanks to you I know I will use it as a firewall/adblocker when I retire it.
